Re: radiator fans
This question has actually been asked and answered twice this week ^^
Your cooling fans have sensors around the radiator, d/c these (with the power running) and your fans should fire up.

Re: radiator fans
It's the coolant temperature sensor, which should be near the thermostat
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: radiator fans
Right, went out to test mine this arvo. On the 1.9 (and, according to HBOL, the 2.1) the sensor is clipped on just forward of the fuel filter housing.
I unplugged it and fired up the power, and both fans worked! The starboard one... well, it was a bit wobbly. Quite a bit, in fact. But never mind, so far I've never gotten it hot enough to actually require the fans...

Re: radiator fans
again thanks for that i think i have tried unpuging this but nothing happened, i wondered if there was a very easy way to put 12v onto the fans to see if they spin because i think all the relays cut in and out etc . i wondered if there could be a bad earth or something.

Re: radiator fans
There is, unplug the relays and shove a +ve feed towards the fan thusly. The only problem is I still can't remember which relay's which...
