They're probably better on the front to be honest, more weight over them.
Had a pair on the rear of my 2.1 and they were really bad in the wet. Had the back step out a couple of times around roundabouts and I wasn't pushing it in the slightest! Swapped them for Bridgestone Turanzas when they wore out, hugely better. The fronts were Conti PC5s which were also excellent. The Coupe has Pirelli P7s on the rear which are fine, it's just the P6000s which seem to be questionable.
You might have more luck with them

Not sure of the location but there is a set of starfish alloys on the bay of e for £165 with 5 good budget tyres on. They are bigger than yours but at less than £35 a wheel worth a look.

P6000's used to be called 'ditchfinders' no-one had a good word to say about them, I had them on a 3-series and they were no good in the Wet or Dry
I'd try and get some Part Warn Michelins or Eagle NCT5's if poss.

trading standards don't seem to botherd about p/w tyres..

I remember that 3-series we had with the P6000's I went to a Part-Worn place and said "I want to look at the tyres closely".......I got took across the road to the Warehouse Unit.....the shutter was opened and the bloke said "there you go, knock yourself out".....I spent *ages* inspecting them and finally got a really nice pair of Michelin Pilots for beer money.

Anybody found anything they do swear by, (instead of at)?
My 'new' Dunlops seem to have mislaid their tread, with remarkable consistency, across the whole width of all 4 of the blighters*.
Still got the receipt in the glovebox, let's see......16/03/2013.

I personally would do my research on tyre review websites and get the best budget I could afford new! When my tyres get down to around 2mm I work out my budget and start shopping for tyres. At the end of the day regardless of whether or not you can see any damage to a tyre you have no idea what's going on inside the rubber!
You have no idea if they've been up and down kerbs at 30mph, if they've come off a crashed car or if they've hit a pothole at speed!

If they regulated the sale of part worn tyres I might consider using them, or even consider them 'safe'.
The fact that tyres can be taken off a smashed up car / scraped car and sold on again with no real checks totally scares the absolute sh*t out of me!

I've seen on two seperate occasions part worn tyres blowing out within weeks of them being fitted on mechanically sound cars bought from reputable tyre shops!
It's disgusting that trading standards lets this go on yet there are specific rules out there that are supposed to govern the sales of part worn tyres. Yet nothing ever gets enforced!
You've goto ask yourself. Why was this tyre removed from a car originally?

Pirelli P7 Cinturato! Came as standard on the Beemer. The rears didn't need replacing till 38,000miles and the front still had 3mm left to go at 45,000miles! they are checked 1st.
part worn tyres are available for a number of reason's. theres plenty of people out there with 'Deep pockets that will change afull set of tyres rather than just
1 or two, ive seen people do it, they don't even ask for the tyres back,
some tyres come from abroad too where its more stricter,
Not everyone has Deep pockets, so part worn tyres are better than driving around on the limit until they can save up for some,
if partworn tyres where bad they wouid be Banned, just like Re-molds where,
they are checked 1st.

I've bought part-worns from the same dealer , for several cars, over the last 7 years.
They only sell part-worns. Never had a problem with any of their tyres.
They do a good trade, because they're fast, efficient and good value for money.
On the 406, when I bought the car, it had Roadstones on it, a cheapish make I think.
As mentioned, it now has 3 out of 4 Michelin Energy Savers on. Car feels smoother,
and more sure-footed. And the Michelins will last longer.
When I had them fitted, the dealer offered a choice of the Michelins, Uniroyales, couple of
Pirellis and sundry budgets. I'd have been quite happy to have the Uniroyals, just went for the Michelins.
Why would I want to spend £150 to £200 for a set of no-name budget tyres whose technology is light-years
behind the best.

Sam you missed my point a bit, i had an unrepairable puncture so needed tyre/s the next day so no real time to do research and 2 weeks before xmas they had to be cheapest possible
