With my ongoing aux belt tensioner ratle still not resolved, driving home from the in-laws last night I heard some clunking from the steering wheel when turning. There didn't seem to be any particular pattern to it but it got progressively worse in just 15 minutes! So, I disconnected the battery, whipped off the air bag from the steering wheel and tightened the central bolt holding the thing in place - it worked itself loose from the constant vibration it seems!
Anyway, so that got rid of the clunking problem but upon reconnecting the battery, the remote on the key stopped working. Nothing happens when I press either the lock or unlock buttons. The central locking still works when the key is used in the door lock and the car starts fine. This never happened before and I disconnected the battery many times in the past without issues. There is no light on the key to indicate whether it's sending a signal or not but it would be too much of a coincidence if the battery in the key died!
I tried re-syncing it by turning the ignition on, pressing the lock button and pressing it again followed by ignition off but nothing changed. I tried disconnecting the car battery again but this didn't solve anything.
I don't have the PIN code that should have come with the car so I need to get that from somewhere and re-sync using PP2000? And I need to find someone with PP2000....
