RP problem solved.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

RP problem solved.

Post by PeterN »

Thank you all very much for your invaluable information, based on that I make the 406 '8901' and the C5 '8919' and I now have a working PP2000 :D :cheesy: 8) .

Unfortunately this has opened up a whole new can of worms so I'm afraid I am going to be pestering you again. The 406 diagnosis is telling me that the ECU is the wrong one for the engine, presumably that means that its corrupted. I have seen adverts for sorting them out but as the car has done 245k miles and is a bit tatty I obviously don't want to spend a lot of money on it. Someone just down the road has offered me a complete 406 for free if I take the lot, what is the situation regarding swapping them and the key transponder?

The C5 will not talk to the lexia, it says insufficient information or something similar although you can get into the diagnostics - I can't remember how but if you bring the car details up it is showing the correct VIN, but everything you try and connect to comes up no connection.

I think this car has a faulty injector as when it gets hot it ticks over like a sick pig, I have done a leak off test but it is inconclusive, all the outputs are very similar with one being slightly higher.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Peter

Try to do a Global scan to get into the separate ECU sub-menus to look at the injector corrections - I think it is under the Engine ECU->Parameter measurements->Parameter2 - anything under 2 is fine.

If PP2000 says its the wrong ECU, it might be just a French glitch - I doubt its corrupted.

If you wanted to swap it, you need the ECU, BSI and the remote key with circuit board and transponder chip inside - nothing else.

I suppose you could then put the old ECU,BSI and key into the dead donor car to get it going.

If you go into test by ECU -> Engine ECU then it may give you the option to choose which ECU you want to proceed to scan for. The ECU code is usually contained in your VIN, e.h., RHY, RHZ, 4HT,...

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

On the C5 you can try any test mode and it says not connected, or at least you get an X by each component. It won't go directly into test mode, its only by clicking on everything the test screen eventually comes up. When you try to connect it says 'insufficient information' or something similar, can't get any readings. It works OK on the 406
