This is what I do.... (Picture heavy)

Post by Bailes1992 »

Never put up any detailing threads or anything up on here as well... I've never thought too
This is a small detail I did a few weeks ago to my old mans car...
After working nearly every weekend for nearly a year for absolutley peanuts it's finally nice to have a weekend to myself :)
Unfortunatley I have been neglecting the Volvo a little bit where at most the past few months all it's had is a quick wash and a wipedown with Duragloss Aquawax 951.
So heres the Volvo...

I gave it a light spray with autoglym engine and machine cleaner along with the alloys and arches...

After 5 mins soaking with a light rinse of a hose you can see how this process really helps with prewashing, although I wouldn't reccomend it if you have lots of protection on the paint :)

This is the car after rinsing opff the engine and machine cleaner...

Image

I then mixed up some bilberry at 10:1 with hot water from the kettle, not boiling but warm enough, I'd say 50-60 degrees C roughly...
Image
As you can see my Glossmax bottle didn't take kindly to it :doublesho
Image
Anyway wheels were lightly sprayed in Bilberry and rinsed off...
Image
Image
Then cleaned with bilberry again along with a little bit of elbow grease from an old Duragloss Mit and a cheapy tesco MF wheel brush...

After...

I then decided to do a prewash with Bilberry at 10:1...

The car was then washed with...
Image
When a little mate turned up... :wall:
Image
I then worked some SRP into the paint and couldn't belive the glossyness of it :doublesho
Image

After this I started wiping the car down with this...
Image
But then the spray head died so I went back to Duragloss 921...
Image
Image
I then applies some Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection and left it half hour, buffed it off and gave the car a wipedown with...
Image
Image
The car was then waxed with...
Image
And the black trim wiped down with Fast Glass and dressed with black wow, I also did the glass with fast glass aswell :)

After....

Great stuff, I have a little collection of professional stuff including the Bilberry.

Having the right stuff really makes it easy. You kinda cross-used some of the products, I suppose you gain that from experience :)

I think he meant I'd be kinda uplifted by the sight of a T5.......unfortunately it's still huge knockers for me :cheesy:

Mind you, huge knockers AND a T5........mmmmmm

Good job there Bailes! You wouldn't want to park a 406 on that drive though, it's a tad steep!

lol I noticed that too. My car struggles on the smallest of slopes.

Could be worse, could always snap the handbreak cable, just before your about to get on to a ferry, in a 4x4 lol That was an interesting moment given we were surrounded by rather expensive cars.

Just chuck it in 4x4 and in gear - got to be better than any handbrake hasn't it?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Looks great. The only thing that lets my mota down is its alloys. Ive gone through loads of different products but im never 100% happy with the results. Must try some of that stuff.
