My V6 has a slightly lumpy and audible clutch pedal. Worried the hell out of me when I first got it, but it's just the spring grinding in the hole in the pedal!Captain Jack wrote:I also noticed that when I press the clutch all the way down, there's a click, same on the way up.

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Uh?steve_earwig wrote:Broken diaphragm?
I traced down the cause of the pulsing noise and definitely a bad tyre. I am pretty sure it's the rear passenger one but not 100%. So will get them all swapped over tomorrow.

Re: Why me....
the big spring in the clutch cover, they sometimes break. Just a thought, would also cause a slipping clutch but that's a bit academic now as the lovely man you bought the car off'll be replacing it anyway

Get the guy to check out the dampers in case that's what's goosed the tyre.

Re: Why me....
Oh, OK. Don't really know the internals of a clutch, I am afraid, except that there's a flywheel and a clutch. Could the clicking and slipping be a knackered thrust bearing too?
Welp, 4 new tyres, 4 wheel tracking and £454 later, the noise is gone.
Now for the clutch.....

Re: Why me....
I'd think it'd be making a hell of a racket before it affected the clutch. I had a release bearing once cut through the ends of the diaphragm "fingers" on my Craptina, made a change from me just destroying the friction disks.
I hope they paid for the tyres!!
