Part 6441L2 I imagine. I replaced mine with an eBay one, has been fine:

What's the best way to check is it just to rip it out?

No easy way to check it really, but "fan always on full" is this unit failing in all cases I've seen (including mine).

I'm not sure on the A/C question - I'd say unlikely to be related (guessing) but you'll soon find out when you replace the resistor :)

Hi, if you can reach the resistor to unplug it, then you may as well give the wires a wiggle with the engine running to see if the fan stops ( providing it is set to 'off' )

The eBay ones are a bit 'hit and miss' regarding quality, but mine has been fine for 2 years now.

This shouldn't affect the A/C, there will be another reason why it doesn't cut in.

Because I can press all the buttons and they all work but have no effect. Only the rear demist does anything. This car is on its last warning

All the buttons?

The windscreen one needs the fan to be working to clear the screen - does it light up?

The recirculate button probably works but the little motor broken of the flap is stuck....

If the new resistor won't fix the fan then maybe a new heater control panel may do it, I can send you my fully working resistor and control panel from my donor car for a reasonable fee..... :cheesy:
