so whats the story, is this beauty still for sale? and whos selling it now if it is? been lookin out for a good v6.

The car is physically with me, down near Swindon. I took it in "part-ex" from mjb as part of the deal on my Coupe. I am not a car trader, which is why I put the quote marks, but cannot think of a better way to describe it.

Anyway, it looks a great car. You'll need to ask Matt about specific details as I have only driven it 4 miles to put a bit of petrol in, but I can help with all the paperwork/history type Qs. Matt is setting the sale price too.

@mjb, in hindsight Matt, I think we are making this way too complex for anyone wanting your lovely car

Towbars are easy to come by Diesel schmiesel! It's got plenty of torque and 40mpg is easy on the motorway. How many diesels can put a grin on your face like a petrol V6 eh? I was going to take it around Europe this summer and the thought of it breaking never for a second crossed my mind... I had complete confidence in it to the point where I replaced it with a coupe with the same engine which I mistakenly thought had done 190k miles (turns out the display I was looking at was saying 19k until the next service... oops! ) because I have faith in these bulletproof pug petrol engines

If i was on the same island id have it bought, just waitin to hear back from a transporter company to see how much it'll cost me. My sisters boyfriend is mates with him so mite get a good deal. Is it a hard job replacing the throttle pot?

Nah, two torx screws holding it on. One you can get at easy, the second you need to take at a bit of an angle, or use one of those bendy screwdriver extension things.

Now, if I could find someone looking for a decent little 306 estate and get some cash in my hand, I could forgo the thoughts of a tubby and try a V6 instead , hmmm......

I would - this is a V6 that's been owned by ME, and I'm extremely picky about the way my cars drive. The bad points mentioned in the first post of this topic are a definitive list - you probably won't even notice the imperfect steering You could also search my posts for the last year to see every little niggle with it

It's a superb car and pretty much guaranteed to be better than every other car on ebay under a grand! I'm not being flippant either.

It's also one of only a few Exec trim level D8s with a trip computer ready to enable at the flick of a switch

It's a right-hooker, plus I'd have to pay duty on it at their rates - 22.5% of their book price, say about 1,500€. I'm just saying, that sort of money woud probably pick me up a.... 1985 Opel Kadet 1.6d

Only if I could import, register and insure it for free, yes. I'd never be able to sell it though. (I'd be having a right nightmare now if it was an estate...)
