Re: Potatometer
If it was a radio or TV I could help you but I suspect there is something special about this one, probably in its mounting. If its a conventional pot which I doubt you need to know its value.

I have no idea to be honest. Think I'm gonna have to phone the dealers Monday morning on the remote off chance they have one/can get one.

Re: Potatometer
All the throttle position sensors fitted to the 406's are the same. I believe the only petrol with a fly by wire throttle was the 2.0 HPi. Other than that any diesel pedometer will work fine.

Re: Potatometer
Will it be ok to use one with the 4 pins in a square shape opposed to 4 pins in a rectangle shape which mine is originally? There's a couple on ebay from HDI's, but use a different plug shape.

Re: Potatometer
Also... The one on my 98' looks to have rotational adjustment. HDI ones look to have a fixed position. Will that matter? As long as its gonna work I'm not too worried lol

I think the Xantia and 406 use the same one.

Re: Potatometer
I believe all D9 petrol 406s are actually throttle-by-wire, my 2000 semi-mux 2.2 petrol certainly is, and I cannot see why later full-mux D9s wouldn't be.Bailes1992 wrote:All the throttle position sensors fitted to the 406's are the same. It's just a tiny bit confusing since the potmeter is located in the engine compartment and actuated by a throttle cable. "Best of both worlds", as they say.

Re: Potatometer
I think that was done so they could drop the engine straight into cars that previously used a throttle cable. That is certainly the case with the Citroen XM, all the electronics are contained on the engine so it can just be plugged in and the throttle cable connected to the pot. I would have thought that all the 2.1's with the EPIC pump, '96 on' would have been the same.

The HPi has a throttle position sensor operated by a cable just like all the others.

It's this bit
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/peugeot-406-307 ... nav=SEARCH
But mine has a different plug on it. The car's at the garage to get it diagnosed just to make sure it is the pot that's the problem. What else it could be I don't know, but its more for peace of mind before I pay for replacement parts and start chopping wires and whatever.

I have one with the terminals in a square pattern if you need it.
