SAT NAV updates

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

SAT NAV updates

Post by polchraine »

I am new here but a friend suggested that you may be able to help! Cars are not really my speciality - but if anyone has an ADSL issue at home that they need advice on, I can probably help.

There are a few old threads but not one that seems to cover my problem.

I have a 2001 406 Coupe - owned since new and it was one of the first fitted with Sat Nav. Something has happened recently and I am having a few problems.

All of my pre-programmed locations now have a "no entry" symbol next to them and if I programme my own address using the user interface the house numbers stop at 33 but I live at 53.

Casting my mind back a few years seems to remind me of a previous problem which may have been resolved with an update.

The car was delivered with 2000-2.1 and I have since installed 2001-1 but seem to remember doing a firmware update.

Would loading the 2001-1 CD do a firmware update automatically? Or is there a specific was to initiate that?

Have I misplaced the Firmware CD?

Is it possible to borrow a later CD to check and see if that will work too? If it does then I may well pay the £81 for a new copy.

Thanks in advance

Apparently it's not even worth doing - I don't think they're produced for the 406 sat nav anymore, and even when they were, the discs cost at least £80. The sat nav on the 406 is not as good as TomTom anyway, and TomTom updated map subscriptions cost you about £25 for a year.
