intank fuel pump

hi guys i have a 2000 406 hdi 110 with the in-tank fuel pump how do i get the plastic ring holding the fuel pump in place off its not for moving lol

You can buy a special tool that does it , think you can get them from
halfords , or use the large filter mole grips or filter chain or gently
tap it around with something blunt against the fins that stick up .

I've just replaced mine this week, and getting it off wasn't a problem, although I found dropping the tank to be the easiest way because the underseat hole is not the biggest for removing the pump, but is ok for skinning your hands.

Once the tank is removed from the car, it is then a whole lot easier to get at everything.

Getting the plastic locking ring back on means you need 3 hands, and a whole lot of patience. I gave up and let the dealer reassemble the pump and ring for £20.
