Hello!

Post by 4drmatt »

Hi there, I'm Matt from nr Bedford

I have just bought my dad's 2.1td 406 estate from him! I wanted an economical, comfy, daily tow car. So far, so good...

However, I am not happy with the ride height, so am trying to source some coilovers... 406 ones are extremely pricey for some reason, so I'm looking for alternatives to get the car lowered 60mm+. One idea I have is to adapt 306 coilovers. Anyone had any experience with this?

Hi there, welcome :cheesy:

I presume lowering it more than 2 inches has something to do with what you're going to be towing with it, rather than driving it to collect points on your license. You do not want coil-overs, you just want lowering springs. I hope you don't live near too many speed bumps

Hi thanks for the replies! I do want coilovers :cheesy: I couldn't find any 60mm lowering springs, unless I am looking in the wrong places ?!?! The lowering is purely for looks and the flexability of coilovers means I can adjust the ride height to suit the situtation. It also seems like the safer option, as fitting lowering springs over 40mm surely requires a shorter damper to perform properly? Bumping up the price in the process. We don't really have speedhumps, so that isn't a concern.
