I get that too where people phone offering ridiculous amounts.

Even had some punk constantly texting trying to offer a ridiculously small amount of money for the half decent Xantia without even seeing it!!!!!!

Useless, wankers, the lot of 'em.

I've got people calling me making frankly cheeky offers. People asking what the tax and MOT is despite it being written IN BIG CAPITALS on the advert.

I had some utter penis break my week-long ebay auction by 'accidentally' bidding 3850 when he 'meant' to bid 380, thereby negating an otherwise winning bid of 400. Then he asks if I want to sell it for the 380, then agrees to the 410 he actually one with, then changes his mind an hour later blaming 'family trouble'. All this in completely fractured engrish, of course. Wouldn't be surprised if he was a Nigerian prince or something.

One guy so far, only one, has actually turned up to view the car. Took it for a spin and he 'noticed' the brakes were shuddering. Yes, said I, just like it explicitly states on the advert, in fact.

So many calls from 'number withheld' or 'unknown'. Hi, I'm a single woman who's just had a baby, can I buy your car for 200? Sure you are, love.

Why would someone go to the effort of a lengthy exchange of texts, agree to come see it, then not appear and not answer when I ask if he's still coming? Is it that f*cking difficult to drop me a text saying 'SRY CHNG M MND LOLWTF ROFLCOPTOR'.

God damnit.

The problem I found with selling cheap reliable family cars (French too!) is that people want a Rolls Royce for a few hundred quid.

I state in my adverts now NO TEXTS as I was tortured selling the Xantia by some chancer who wanted it for £150.

The ones who phone and ask the same questions as what was in the advert, or come along and hmm and haaa over some ridiculous tiny detail.
Then the ones who come along and say "I would buy it but all I have is £200 on me and thats all my money". Maybe it is, but this is not a charity, and they were well aware of the rough asking price in the starting advert (ie. £450 ono does not mean £200)

As for ebay, I knew someone in the office selling a Supra in N.Ireland, the winning bidder then turned around and said "yea I can't be bothered picking it up. Drop it off in Luton and I'll pay you then".

Chancers the lot of them

When I was a nipper my dad used to buy and sell cars for some extra cash, he's seen so many time wasters you wouldn't believe it, people who just want to spend an afternoon wasting your time. His favourite has to be the young couple who brought their kid with them, when he took them for a spin they stuck the kid in the back and gave it some chocolate. It's only when they'd offered him something derisory and left he realised the kid had spent the whole journey smearing chocolate all over the back seats, it was a bastard to get out too :x

Gumtree is a disaster for these muppets.

Ebay is full of bidders who then try and wriggle out of it.

Autotrader isn't too bad, I found pistonheads quite good too, not too many messers.

SOLD, to the gentleman waving a wad of cash under my nose.

350 it went for, somewhat disappointing but it'll be nice to cancel my insurance and not have to renew the tax.

You know, I had already arranged for a guy to pick it up tomorrow for 325. After this second guy offered me 350, I phoned the first guy back to tell him thanks, but no thanks. You know what? He text me saying 'why even bother to phone, time waster'.

Some people eh? Should have let him drive over here from Bognor then broken the news >.<

My mate is selling a ML 320 at the moment on behalf of his boss. 91k, FSH - Immaculate!

Car is advertised for 15k AUD, though he has had douchebags calling up and offering 9k for it. Some people have a real nerve - 15k is the asking price for the car, like, imagine walking into a Woolworths and offering 40% off for the grocery bill and see how far you get!

I must have been lucky selling cars as every single one I've sold (and that's at least eight) has sold to the very first viewer 8)

I always make 'em real clean, make the advert photo's look brill and do a thorough description (which Autotrader advises not too btw) ........then, coupled with my charm, it's a dead cert within minutes :P

Selling the 2 BMW's was a real piece of piss, even the broken one :?

Glad you got it shifted Swiss, bloody bargain really.

I wouldn't offer 50p for an M class Merc.

It's amazing what a clean, polish and a decent pic in the advert can do. It amazes me too the amount of people who take a crap picture of a stinking car.

Well, it's gone. Chap's just driven it away. Nice bloke, promised to be kind to it, but I still did comedy wobbly lip when it rumbled out of the driveway.

Wish mine went to a good home instead of two ignorant foreigners from Coventry. I left the 406oc website sticker on the rear window for them too.

Now when i type in the the registration number on askmid.co.uk it comes up as uninsured. Probably scrapped now
