I was thinking 508 next, but the 4007 may get my cash instead. Wouldn't be so bad, but the extra tax never finds it as far as the very road I'm paying to use!

They marked a load of potholes round here back in March, and they've been left unrepaired so long that the paint has worn off.

Aha - we've got the marked-up roads too, but that's all it is - £10.00's worth of line marker

Will the 508 / 4007 have adjustable sussy settings like soft, sport, etc? that would help as most yr 2005+ cars seem to have rock-hard sussy :frown:

You can adjust the ride in the higher spec 4007s.

My 407 treads a decent line between being firm, but not having a crashy ride, but potholes 15cm deep are a bit much really.

Blame the Germans and the EU.
The Germans fitted 316is, A4s etc. with rock hard suspension because it is "sporty". All other manufacturers followed suit.
The French used to have soft cars because their roads were as bad as the UKs are now, but the EU sorted their roads out, so they no longer need soft suspension and want a bit more Autoroute cruising ability. That is why you can blame the EU.

Not sure what will be next after the 406, if I'm still after a bit of comfort. C6 or a Jag perhaps?

front of the car was juddering when i pulled off all culminating in the bang when the drop
link let go . I was just putting it down to a fooked drop link , was a little bit off the mark
with that thought  . Also been a little overly involved in my R/C hobby so i am
afraid i have neglected the old girl

I honestly don't think Polish roads are bad at all. I've driven there on several occasions and haven't found the roads to be all that terrible. Been to Warsaw and Otwock last week and again, roads weren't bad. Not great, and not as good as British ones but not bad.

Now, if you wanna drive in Russia, make sure you have a tank - as nothing else survives the roads there.

Im living here now and have done for the last 4 months I will get some pics up of the local stuff  ,

the city centre roads and main arterial routes arent too bad, but once you get off what is essentially the Pan European Trans Continental Highway the roads are bloody awful.

Im covering about 600 km a week at the moment all within 50k of Warsaw and the roads are shocking for the most part, the main E30 through Warsaw is liveable but deeply rutted on the inside lane other than that, anything away from tourist or big business eyes is in a shambolic state.

They say by 2012 it will be ready for the European Cup that they are co-hosting with the Ukraine i think, but the consensus of opinion from the locals is it wont improve for at least another 5 years

its enough for me to have to flog the 406 and buy something a tad beefier :(

And CJ next time you are out here give me a shout you were only about 35k away last week. we could have had 406oc's Eastern European meet in a local boozer

I've ridden a motorbike down the length of Africa, and even riding down the railroad track in Mozambique was more comfortable that the roads round here. I mean, are we a developed nation, or a tin pot banana republic? I sometimes wonder.

A coupla weeks ago I reported a bad local pothole, about 2' x 18" and easily 5" deep, strategically placed right on the line coming off an A road into a side road. It's an unlit junctiion and the sod nearly had me off the Mad Max riding home in the dark, so I duly reported it.

3 weeks on it's untouched.

It's lucky I'm a sedate rider with a bit of experience under my belt, cos a faster rider on a twitchy rice rocket would have been off for sure. Surely they can see that this is not just a nuisance, but is seriously dangerous, and it must be cheaper to send a crew out to fix it than pay £4k to replace a V-Max, £1k on helmet and leathers, and lord knows what in injury compo, with solicitors on top? Chuffing twots.

I've driven on roads in Kuwait that had been low level bombed by B52's taking out whole convoys in one pass, and they weren't this bad. On the plus side, if the Germans ever try to invade they won't get 10 miles inland.
