Isn't life weird? Back in the 70's, the 504 coupe was criticised for being slow (even the V6), expensive, dull to drive and uninspiringly styled. Fast forward to 2010 and they're collectible as hell, and even used to inspire artists impressions of a possible 508 coupe. Deffo weird.

Always thought the 504 coupe had a classy elegance. As does the 406 coupe.

Citroen Suspension is nothing to worry about, i put it down to the ignorance of mechanics who cant be bothered to understand how it works just dismissing it as unreliable and troublesome, its not, a neighbour had a 95 xm turbo and it had over 300,000 miles when it was crashed, the car never gave any trouble with the suspension as long as the spheres and LHM is changed every year, hydropneumatic certainly is better than air suspension

My tip for anyone buying a hydraulic suspension is to buy the sphere wrench. It is a bar with a hoop on the end, with a screwhole. Just put it round the sphere, screw the bolt to tighten it up, then give it a twist, sphere just unscrews off!
Easy as pie!

Got to say, I really like it. My only concern is their not going to show it until next year, and there's cars just as nice out there now that have been out for a while already.

I like both this and the new C5 styling, but really am wanting a hatchback for my next car. But I suppose that's what Peugeot's big car has always been, saloon.

In terms of style there are not dissimilar cars already for sale. From a technical standpoint, the likes of the Mondeo etc still hasn't caught up with the 407 with the suspension, 6 pot diesels etc, so when the 508 becomes the first large family saloon to market with the PSA/Bosch 200BHP diesel hybrid it'll be effectively 2 generations ahead of some of its opposition from a technical standpoint.

The GT is projected to be about £24k, so it's gonna be cheap. This puppy can't make it on sale fast enough for me.

I really like the new C5 too and I can't wait to see the 508 in the flesh. I just hope it's not a let down

Whatever car I have next will almost certainly be an estate again, just can't beat that level of versatility. Could possibly be tempted by a hatch but certainly not a saloon

Some excellent large 508 pics in The Stuns motoring section today.

The 3008 and RCZ also got mini-tests and both had a good write up. I'm soon to be chopping the 308 in for a 3008 to silence the wife's nagging, so it's good to see another positive review. Indeed, it's good to see Pug consistently getting some positive press all round in the serious motoring media. Since the 308 the brand seems to be sorting itself out.

Dare i say it, peugeot are making decent cars again .

Not to sure what spec, but i was passenger in the 308cc last week, very impressed . Would love a drive in one also the 308 hatch. I have heard great reviews about them. "better than the 307 build quality etc..."

And now the RCZ seen one a few weeks ago on the road and looks fantastic, but with that price tag i think i would be looking more audi tt or nissan 370Z.

Love the look of the interior of the 508, its seems to be a classic design rather than how many buttons can we fit on the dash . It has an air of quality . It reminds me so much of my passat inside.

Not sure on the outside looks like the insignia, but then again photos dont always do a car justice. Not sure about he re branding at the front looks a bit fussy with the peugoet name as well as the redesigned badge.

does anyone think peugeot will ever make anything as good as the 205 gti again, sure they can make faster cars now, but back when the 205 came out it was such a big hit, if they were to do the same today they would need to take on the likes of the focus rs, how does the idea of a v6 hdi bi-turbo 308 sound like.

Pug lost the plot a bit after the '06 gen, went mad putting pointy lights and basking shark grilles on everything.
I bet even their bicycles now have pointy cycling lights and a basking shark front mudguard.

From what I heard of the '07s, the electrics were a bit hit and miss, lets hope they've worked on the QA.
