Im just looking to know how reliable a Citroen c4 really is, i nearly bought one instead of my 406 but then heard too many bad stories about it, but does anyone know how reliable the C4 actually is, now i have the 406 i wouldnt want one the 406 is much better but it will just be interesting to hear of the C4's problems.

Re: Citroen C4 Reliability
I have read all the reviews, but they are all just new car reviews, is there any owner reviews explaining any problems the c4 had, i heard from my mechanic one c4 had a fault with the ABS, he couldnt fix is because he hasnt got a computer, but he said it cost the person over £1000 to put right.
Re: Citroen C4 Reliability
I liked the C4, but some of the toys are a bit Blakes 7, so i went for the 308 instead. Brilliant car.

Ah, the same Honest John who is dead set against speed limiters on cars on the grounds that they are dangerous, while ignoring that they more than halved the HGV accident rate overnight when they were introduced. The same Honnest John who raves about Shell V Power fuel, while in the same issue there's an article about how the AA did some scientific testing and found no benefit whatsoever...
The ABS pump fault isn't unheard of on the 307, which is a close relative. Surely everyone who spanners PSA cars has Planet/Lexia by now?
I'd find a Cit forum and just ask some honest questions, and see if they reckon you should look out for anything when buying. Everyone tells me the 407 is a heap of shite, but mine is relentlessly reliable - when I did a survey on 407 reliabilty for a magazine article, ratings from owners gave me a quotient of 9 points above average for the 407, which shows you can't trust lore, urban myth, or that chump don the pub.
Good luck.

Re: Citroen C4 Reliability
The only problems I've heard about are electrical issues (now there's a surprise for a French car).I've changed a few rear discs and pads, same as the Megane with wheel bearing as part of the disc and expensive).
My postman has one and loves it.
My 407 has been an absolute gem, except for ABS light on every few weeks....goes out than comes back....must get it in to Peugeot under warranty to have it looked at, sensors I guess.

Someone in work with me has a 4 year old C4 1/6 petrol, had it from new. Hasn't had any trouble with it at all.

Re: Citroen C4 Reliability
Ahy i suppose there is good and bad ones of the C4, something about french cars i noticed is to avoid buying a new model in the first 3 years because it takes them that time to get all the niggles ironed out look at the early citroen XM's as an example plauged with electrical trouble, but after the recalls all should be fixed and fine
