Radio stalk
Hi,
My 2002 406 doesn't have a radio stalk. Should it?! (And if so then what sort.)
If its relevant, I have satnav and a remote control.
My last 406 (a 2007 XUD9TE) had a radio stalk, so I was a bit confused when I settled into my 2002 HDi to find there wasn't one. The dealer insisted there wasn't supposed to be one (this was back in 2005), even though there's a massive hole in the side of the steering column plastics that's just crying out for a radio stalk.
So, I was hoping that you could either point me in the right direction for getting the missing stalk, or put me out of my misery and confirm that I can't have one.
Ta,
rwb.

Re: Radio stalk
It sounds strange, only the really really basic versions of the 406 didnt have a radio stalk i believe such as the S trim level cars, the D9 ones that dont have climate control are the ones which shouldnt have a radio stalk because they are the really basic trim, if it is a mid range to high end trim level then possibly some previous owner has pulled out the radio stalk and sold it for parts. A shop on ebay or at a scrappies gets one of them very easily and they are not too hard to get out, but if the car wasnt meant to have one it might be hard to make it work.

Re: Radio stalk
whasta stalk worth to you? i have fitted an aftermarket stereo so mine is useless. it worked 100% prior to the new stereo going in and that had nothing to do with the reason i went that route.

Re: Radio stalk
I have the original radio: its perfectly good enough for me (although the reception seems to have got a bit crap recently), so no problems with stalk compatibility (I hope).
Yes, there's a massive hole.
OK, well here's what I'm on right now. Compared to brim-to-brim calculations I find that the computer under estimates by 12mpg, so I'm actually claiming 67mpg.
So nerr

Re: Radio stalk
I think we did that a few years back - who can get the lowest instantaneous MPG/blow their engine up while trying.

Re: Radio stalk
I know this is irrelevant to the topic but the worst mpg i have ever heard of is 15mpg average on a jeep cherokee and that was 15mpg even when it was running on LPG
Re: Radio stalk
Carrying on the hijack, the worst i've had was a Rover V8 powered LDV400 running on LPG was 8mpg
