Wanted 406 1.9td

Post by adamr8965 »

Hey all after hitting a rather large deer, i need some new parts for the old pug. They are all for a 1.9td on a 1999 t-reg.

Radiator + fan and housing
Intercooler
Air con rad thingy,
Both headlights, due to black plastic mounting points snapped.
Grill - silver if poss
Bonnet. silver aswell

Also were can you get the short lower rad hose from, as that was a bugger to get off, its the short one about 4-5 inch.

Will collect parts of local to me.

That's a dealer only part mate. it isn't a short lower rad hose (unless you mean the one about half way up). It's a bugger to fit at the back of the engine, trust me I have just done mine. There is an upside down U pipe that I had to remove to get enough access to the hose to remove it. Also stock up on Jubilee Clips as they make refitting a thousand times easier.

The two main rad hoses have a conrad connector on them that errodes. You could try your luck with a 2nd Hand part but chances are it'll leak. Replacement from Pug is about £80 inc VAT and will take 48 hours to arrive.

Take it from someone who is bitter that what should have been a half hour rad swap turned into a 5 day mission, with about 15 hours spent battling the old rad, old hose etc. Takes about 20 mins to put it all back together though

I have got all the parts now guys and the car is back on the road, took flipping ages to get the lower rad hose off, about 3hrs of swearing and shouting, but it came off in the end. Just used it again to fit new rad, and it doesnt leak.

Got all the parts for the car from a local breakers cost £50 for everything, so was very very happy, spent all day monday with my brother rebuilding the old pug, hammered the dent out the bonnet and it looks as newish. Its only a work horse and does the job just fine.

P.s the old pure veg oil works a treat aswell, get it from a cash and carry.
