During my recent hassles getting the PP2000 to work, I disconnected the battery and since then, my remote control won't work. I've tried every variation of the instructions in the manual etc. but nothing seems to work.
I got 2 keys with the car, both of which were working, so got Mrs Doggy to put the spare 'somewhere safe'. Needless to say her chosen hidey-hole has proven utterly safe - we can't find it .
I didn't get the card with the code numbers on with the car, unfortunately.
I have a working PP2000 now, so believe I should/i] be able to sort it, but couldn't find how.
Any suggestions, folks?

according to the Pug Handbook on Synchronising remote control follow this procedure :
Press the big button( with pug symbol ) until light indicator stops flashing ( i assume to be the red flashing 1 )
Release the big button , the indicator light is lit continously
Press the big button twice near the vehicle
Switch the ignition on for at least three seconds
Switch off the ignition
The remote control is now operational again.
it happened to me Dogslife when i changed my battery and i did that and it worked for me, however if it doesn't work for you then its time to see those specialist key programmers to programme it with the BSI unit for the remote key to work.
If all else fails, PM your vin number and I'll speak to my mate at my local dealers to see what they do.
You will probably need your code, but i'll find out .

I'm pretty sure you can reprogram the car's key code with PP2000, but you do need to know the magic code which'll cost you a bomb to get. I only suspect this by looking through some of the PP2000 data files, because mine won't speak to my central locking ECU...
Question is though, have you tried changing the batteries in the key? I can't see how your car could lose the key code with a power outage, only the synchronisation data...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Update: CR2016 battery, 3V. nominal, measures 3.05V. so I guess that's not it.

I thought the same first time I looked for it, but I got to the page where you enter the number - think you have to select 'Initialisation' from one of the menus, without specifying which ECU.
Pug charge £25 to look it up for you
I'm going to try pouring some money down the phone to them, as jasper5 kindly suggested, and see if they'll give me the code so I can program it myself.....

After a bit of a goooooogle, I discovered digital kaos, (which is where the guys on the coupe forum discovered the secrets of de-FAPping). There's a skicky on their site where you can post your VIN and they'll reply with the PIN code for your remote. I got an answer with 24 hours, FOC - (stealers want £25 to look it up for you). Just search for 'vin to pin'.
Once you have this, PP2000 talks you through the process of 'Learning' the key code, in a few minutes.
