7 seat option in the estate

Post by Roylewaa »

Hi chaps

For a long while I searched for a 406 Estate with the 7 seat option, however none came up nearby or in my price range, anyway ive picked up a D9 estate without the 2 additional rear seats

I was wondering if this was a optional extra at the factory as they doesent seem that many about, or for sale from breaking cars

I will be looking for the additional seats in the coming months as the Mrs is pregnant with our 4th child and i'd rather keep the 406 than go for a people carrier :frown:

My only real worry is the safety implications to retro fitting the additional seats as my kids would be sitting in them at the end of the day and I dont want to jeopordise their safety, and its a scary thought the car getting rear ended with them facing the rear

cheers for any info

I wouldn't, if I had young'uns and an estate

The rear (luggage) part of the estate is its crumple zone to protect passengers in the standard bench seats against rear-end collisions

Your kids would be sitting in that crumple zone :(

Yeah, I kind of figured that

I remember a while ago seeing a crash test on 5th Gear using a Zafira that had dummies in the rear 2 seats , not good

makes you wonder if 7 seaters are safe at all, with the exception of 4x4's I suppose
