removing that *$&*$%^"£$^ clock...
The bulb behind the clock in my D8 has gone. The clock sits to the side of the dashboard, in a weird curved triangle sort of shape in the leather trim. I tried to pry it out but all that happens is the trim around it flexes and nothing comes out. Does anyone have any tips?

Re: removing that *$&*$%^"£$^ clock...
There is 2 metal clips holding it in from the top.
They are IMO overkill in their strength so will take a reasonable amount of force to get the clock out.
If you can get a couple of say knives in the top you could be able to bend the clips to make getting it out easier.
When you go to put it back in, try and bend the clips a little to releave some of the excessive force outta them, in doing so making any further attempts at getting it out a lot easier.

Every time I took the clock out of my old D8 on of the spring clips pinged off and fell down behind the dash, never went far though and I always managed to get it back...

Re: removing that *$&*$%^"£$^ clock...
If i remember correcly the clock in a d8 is where the hazzard lights button in my d9 is, but i had to get the button out once on a d9 (not my own) and found it difficult so i took out the speedo and then had good acess to the back of it so i pushed it out from behind which worked without damaging the plastic

One can also pull the centre-right air vent doo-dad from its housing and squeeze your figgins up behind the clock. Just pops right out if you get behind it.
BE WARNED: thou shalt only use the special wee bulb to go in your clock. It's a regular dash bulb but the holder is a bespoke job you need to get from a stealer. After many years and a lot of heat, the plastic in your clock will be very brittle and trying to jam a regular dash bulb holder in there will f*ck it up, leading to much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Managed to fix the problem with the bulb holder by soldering a white LED and a 200ohm resistor in series directly to the pins arround the hole. Modified the LED by removing the lens and scratching it all up with sandpaper, so there is no direct beam.

Well played, sir. When I turned my gubbinz blue, I had to solder a LED on to the wee bulb holder... didn't occur to me to just plonk it right on to the contacts.

Well written swiss, some may have been tempted to write 'an LED' so I thank you for your thoughtful contemplation and praise your obvious intelligence.swiss wrote: a LED

On a recent trip to Windsor Castle, while entertaining the in-laws, we bought a book called "Her Ladyship's Guide to Queen's English". It actually has a section on where to use a's and an's.
Turns out, you CAN use an 'an' in front of certain consonants, if they are silent. For example:
an honest
an honour
But...
a herb
a hat
Strangely, it didn't say anything about L's and S's (for example, is it 'an' SSL certficate or 'a' SSL certificate?).

Spooky coincidence you mentioning that! I had to buy a couple of public SSL certs for customers yesterday for Exchange push email! Totally irrelevant but heyCaptain Jack wrote:(for example, is it 'an' SSL certficate or 'a' SSL certificate?).
