can you say why you think there is a problem? the system is supposed to cycle on and off as opposed to being on continuosly.
When they ran it up, gassed up etc, the first thing they thought was the relay was shot, replaced that and it was still not working. Managed to track it back to the VCM (?) and so i WILL need to plug into a Peugeot system to see if there's a fault in the module. I'm told its an easy(ish) repair but i've come so far i just want it sorted. When i come to sell it, whoever looks at it will ask the question and i can't just say, it needs re gassing.
I was just curious to see if anyone else had a switch or relay problem and that would lead me directly to the problem. I have a friend of my Dad's who has the Peugeot TEP fault reader, relevant to cars of that era, but he's away so until he gets back, i was hoping to have a direction to go in?
If you read through my How-to, particularly the last bit, you'll see mine did the same - refused to pull in the compressor clutch until 'forced'.
I think the pressure sensor won't 'see' the residual gas pressure until the compressor boosts this enough to 'lift' the non-return valve fitted between sensor & condenser.
All we did was put a +12V feed momentarily onto the clutch, (making sure you get the right pin in the connector - the other's an earth and connected to the compressor casing).
You can 'practice' this with the engine stopped and hear the clutch operate.....
Mine worked OK by itself thereafter, (& still does).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
imo not worth the hassle. Over four years we replaced: radiator, pipes, compressor, more pipes. The chap who does it is very competent, not expensive, highly knowledgeable - he says the Pug system is just not very good. So I gave up on it at that stage; it was accounting for more than half the annual maintenance costs on the car!
Do I miss it - yes, on the five hot days of every year.
I think I may have found a fix, there's a guy that can bypass the climate function and i'll be able to have the cold air, control the temperature and not suffer in the hot days anymore, getting a price today to sort it so will let you know the score when its done.
