I know of quite a few bars where you can't get in as a punter with tattoos.
This is mostly because, and I'm sure Glasgow is very similar to Belfast in this regard, of the "political" nature of some of the tattoos....
However the likes of the rock / student bars have a lot of tattooed folks. Depends on the company policy I suppose.

its out of order lol maybe thats why i have been getting turned down from a certain night club in glasgow as i am covered in tattoos lol
Re: a strange one lol
The dibble don't recruit people with tattoos visible while wearing normal day clothing, or any sexist or racist tattoos. Alas, when I joined there were no such rules so my nekked chicks are all but unique now on an english bobby.
A lot of offices won't accept folk with visible tattoos, which seems stupid to me - I mean, who really gives a s**t? If I ran a business I think I could find more important things to concern myself with, such as making some money.

as sad as it may be, even in todays environment with tattoos being very popular, there is still a stigma attached to them.
i love telling people about what my tattoos mean - i'm proud of them, even though the stories often upset the asker!

I know of tattooed folks who if theyre going to certain pubs have to wear long sleeved shirts. Even though their tattoos are inoffensive designs. Seems to be a "bar one bar all" policy to stop arguments over what is and what isnt an "acceptable" message on a tattoo.
Re: a strange one lol
the other thing to take into account is alcohol here. a tattoo can be interpretted very differently when someone is drunk to when they were sober. what is a nice inoffencive tattoo can be quite the opposite after a few jars.

You've been here before then, where people seem to go out of their way to be offendedno2lurch wrote:the other thing to take into account is alcohol here. a tattoo can be interpretted very differently when someone is drunk to when they were sober. what is a nice inoffencive tattoo can be quite the opposite after a few jars.

Tribal nonsense (and I don't mean the swirly tattoo designs!)
Re: a strange one lol
Problem is, when someone's that drunk they're liable to simply interperet peoples faces in a negative light. No reputable drinking establishment will let people get that larruped, though plenty of disreputable ones do.no2lurch wrote:the other thing to take into account is alcohol here. a tattoo can be interpretted very differently when someone is drunk to when they were sober. what is a nice inoffencive tattoo can be quite the opposite after a few jars.

I once fumbled a huge weighty tit from its retraining device to be met by a Tattoo, quite off putting if I recall......
