Now im fairly sure where you have "Level 1+" as your trim level on my vin number it stated it was a GTX so Im guessing yours is a special order for commercial use i.e Police.
I might be wrong and its been a while since i checked my own,but im sure somebody else with pox access can confirm or not if that Level 1+ bit usually says LX,GLX,GTX etc etc.
Have a good trip out and catch up with you soon.

So what's the crack with the ex po cars? On the Omega forum they have a thread describing how to recognise and avoid them, since they'll have been thrashed to death and have had millions of miles racked. Anything similar with the 406?

Police 406 diesel? That couldn't catch anything!
Now that its retired from the police, does it get a public sector pension?
Looks like standard equipment also depends on year:

(Always nice to read a good review too.)

Re: LX/GLX - What's the difference?
I once read that ex cop cars were a good buy as they were serviced on the button, and any repairs needed are made and not skimped on.
Yes high mileage, and thrashed, but then so are taxis

Re: LX/GLX - What's the difference?
Thanks for that Polsipug, now I know, a police spec special
I bought it with just under 100,000 miles on the clock, for £1700.
I also got a full service history for it, along with every repair and replacement done on it. It had every oil change etc done on the button milage wise. 100,000 was fairly high milage for the age it was, but not
high.
As it's a 90bhp diesel it wouldn't catch anything, although it's surprisingly lively. Taking off from lights I quite often leave a sporty type car in my slipstream, although that's probably only if they're half asleep and don't expect me to take off quite so 'spiritedly'
. As it's in red, with no marks on it's roof from aerials or extra disco lights or anything, I take it that it was a pool car for general use. Not a traf-pol pursuit car or anything like that. More likely used by CID to travel around in and as a plain-cloths motor for observing what's going on. Or it could have been some high honcho's PA's motor for running around town, or just one that anyone who needed a car would sign out and use as required.
There is a huge cable with about 50 cores in it, coiled up in the radio cubby-hole.
There are also a few holes in my centre console where a mic clip has been screwed in and similar things. So I imagine that whoever used it could keep in touch with HQ by radio and check stuff via a built in computer.
There is a standard roof mounted aerial hole in my roof, with a Pug' blanking plug in it, no aerial. There was a hole drilled into my right rear wing, which is where I've fitted an aerial for my radio.
If this is a reasonable example of an ex-police pool car, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
