400 mile round trip done, coupe is virtually mint apart from 2 little things I had been informed about, been home 15 mins.... Car has now been remapped! Quick drive up the road and can feel the difference, sit down and relax for a bit, will take it for a drive later and report back

Only remapped for now, the FAP was cleaned a few months ago and the cerene tank was refilled so should be fine for a while, i'm going to save up for a stainless steel manifold back exhaust system for either when the FAP needs attention again or when part of the exhaust system fails, will then upload the no FAP map.
Don't know how the old owner drove it but was smooth but not quick, on the way back i had it on cruise control most of the way at 70-75, my gf was driving my saloon infront and everytime she put her foot down to overtake i could see the traditional puff of smoke so i'd plant my foot but the pull just wasnt there to instantly keep up, to be fair, the remap on the saloon makes the turbo feel like a NOS injection as it really does fly!!
Last night when i took the coupe for a drive it still felt flat, i adjusted the throttle cable to take up the slack and then gave the right pedal a fair bit of stick, and had the FAP error light come on!! Went off after a few minutes and suddenly i had power!! Could actually feel the injection of power when the turbo kicked in, the 2.2 is a completely different beast compared to the 2.0, so quiet and smooth, obvoiusly the remaps are dramatically different too, at the weekend i'll take the battery off for a few hours to reset the ECU then take it out on the country roads of Norfolk so let the ECU get used to my style of drive, did this with the 2.0 and afterwards i had top end power back and quick acceleration

So have you installed the 180 map with the FAP delete programme? you might get better results smashing the FAP out (Dogslife style) and unplugging the eoloys thingy? don't know for sure.

I've put in the 180 map without disabling the FAP, i didn't wanna take a hammer and chisel to the car on the day i bought it

Sounds like you're enjoying yourself there. IMHO the 2.2 is deceptively quick, the power delivery is so undramatic you tend not to notice how fast it really is. You can still catch it off boost and it flounders for a few seeconds, but if you look at the rev counter you realise why. Must be even better in a coupe.

I tell you Nutski, the FAP's gotta go.... Cat's next on my hit list, its days are numbered.

Its that is part of the problem, it seems to smooth to be fast so you don't really notice the power.
The FAP is definately going to go, as is the Cat, but as its fine at the moment i'll wait until i have the money for a full system and take them off then.

Picking these things up cheap enough and doing a free-ish 180 map is one of the best things I've heard of

Re-mapping my T5 probably requires a remortgage, a full interview with the Department for Transport, VOSA and the HMRC

Cost me £2650, which i'm rather happy with considering the low mileage, then £27 for the Galetto cables.
To be fair i was sweating it slightly when the software said 'Erasing ECU', the car had been in my drive for 10 mins.......
Have sold my Saloon for £1200 which is good considering the high mileage, i still have a couple of this to do to it which will keep me busy at weekends as my dad bought it from me!

In fact I don't think you could look cooler and go faster for less

Looks really smart & with the remap and FAP solution now available, the HDi coupe's now a much more attractive prospect. Hope you have a great time with it.

Trust you won't be abandoning your friends here on 406oc now that you have aspired to the champagne lifestyle of the coupe world.

If the car wasn't that cheap i would still be waiting quite a few months for it, got lent what i was short to get it as it was far too good to pass up, now skint till the new year!!!

I won't be going anywhere, been here about 3 and a half years since i got my first 406 and had probs, have learnt so much from everyone on here so hoping to stick around and offer my bit where i can, or if only just to come in and see Welly's daily musings
