Estate boot light???

Post by no2lurch »

Is there a light in my d9 estate boot that lights up when I open the boot lid? Unloading the boot tonight would have been so much easier, especially when the kids toys had spilled over!

id say it has a boot light somewhere up on the ceiling, its been so long since i was in an estate but it should have even a hole where the light was once, you can buy a new one, or better put in some led lights which will light up the boot of the estate very well

Should be on the near side wheelarch trim - all estates have this one. Mine also has one more or less abov the back seat backrest

2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)

Yep, it's on the l/h wheelarch, it's run by a tilt switch near the r/h lights in the boot lid.

thanks guys. i pulled the light out of the trim and found the wiring not connected at all. i fished the plug out and connected it up and hey presto it works.

not been out in the dark to see how much light it sheds yet.

Don't get too excited:

a). If there's anything much in there it covers the light and you can't see bog-all
b). If there's nothing much in there it blinds you, (see a). above).

lol, i know what your getting at. thing is, i do alot of lugging around in the dark at work and site work ofter involves sorting through boxes in the back of the car. i was thinking about maybe adding a light to the top of the rear screen area in the head lining. would that be possible. i know all i would need to do is to extend the wires, but would there be enough room between the lining and the actual roof?

Best modding option would be to grab a couple of white 12v CCFL light strips from a computer shop and slap 'em on the sides just beneath the parcel shelf
