Hi all,
Trying to solve wiper problem. I found the thread on 406oc but the instructions for finding the relay were for the previous model. Mine is a X reg, 2000, 2.0 hdi (110). What's the problem? The wipers stop in different positions and occasionally in the correct parking position. I've tried looking for the relay as suggested, hoping it would be behind the fuses but no luck. All I found was a large black box which may have relays inside it. It certainly made lots of clicking noises when I turned the wipers on. Any help would be much appreciated. It looks like autumn is here, along with the rain.

Errr, that would be the BSI (here be dragons), best not to mess with it. Hopefully it's a more traditional fault, like worn brushes inside the wiper motor gear box or a duff earth.

Hi Abs & Welcome
Wiper motor failure isn't that unusual - we got a replacement for my bro's for £15 from local scrappy - this has the added advantage of letting you make all your mistakes, scratches etc on the donor vehicule.

Thank you for the welcome and ultra quick responses. I'll try scrappers for wiper motor.

Just seen a w reg hdi (90) for £250. What do you think? Break for parts? I need a motor for my wipers and maybe I could take the major things off. Bsi, lift pump, headlights etc and then scrap.
Re: New member 406 hdi(110)
Hello again, I've been looking at the website regularly and i've found the answers to loads of queries. The forum is doing an excellent job.
I'm thinking of replacing the connection on the front piece exhaust. I've checked the forum and the advice is to replace the spring/bolt connector. My question is, can I do it myself with a stand and a ratchet or should or use my local mechanic? Advise please.

Yes you can do it yourself. Be prepared for skinned knuckles etc but it is a DIY jobAbs wrote:My question is, can I do it myself with a stand and a ratchet or should or use my local mechanic? Advise please.
