Grab an early 2001 D9 V6 Exec estate with an ES9J4S but no COM2000 :) If you get a car from before 1st March 2001 you'll just be paying the flat tax rate of £205 (same as a 1.6 fiesta!), whereas after that you're paying £245

Check on all counts, I had my first "bombay bad boy" pot noodle whilst away & I'm hooked! That and they were selling local cider dirt cheap at the camp shop :cheesy:

You're right chaps, I do need to get an estate. Especially with no 3 on the way!
I haven't started looking yet, it breaks my heart as I've put so much work into the tubby but needs must and all that :(

Hi m8, I'm quite new on here :), altho i've owned my Beloved Hdi (90) saloon for 6 years now. Parked it up last year at 205K miles and went for a 7-seater estate 2.2 Hdi 136, and a 7-seater 2.0 Hdi 110 for my girlfriend, which come in very handy as we have 3 kids each  the space is everything, i've caried a single bed in there, 23 binbags of grass, 3 tall adults squeezed in the 6/7th seat (oops lol). Seriously it's definitely worth considering, and I believe that Estates can actually be quite cool, i've done a few mods 2 mine (with an ever growing list i must add), but i'm definitely in need of a considerable remap soon !

Just can't part with the old saloon tho, handy for "borrowing" the modded parts off, but i'm sure i'll revive it some day :cheesy:

Btw my pot noodle habit has recently revived, maybe it's part of my midlife crisis too ! lol :P

But that's just me, lol

The 406 estate is great for going to far-away concerts... just slap a single mattress, pillow and duvet in the back, then find a multistorey

Well done for getting all of you and the gear in the car. I don't think there's any way we're going camping without the roof box (I'd even contemplated a tow bar and trailer, but then came to my senses)

It was one hell of a squeeze, that's for sure! The car was spot on though, I would have been a bit miffed if it misbehaved after all the mot lark!
Welly you're right about the tent, it's huge! And that's the 5 man version! Bloody brilliant bit of kit though, highly recommended especially if you're away with the family. Vango Aspen 500.
