on my 2.2 d9 sri estate, every now and then the air con turns itself on when i start the car.
i never use it due to the coolan leaking so i know i dont leave it on when i turn the car off, but when i restart, it is on!
what could it be?

They all do that (sir), I think it's something to do with the difference between the requested temperature and the actual, if the difference is too much it'll engage the air con. We've been over this a few times, I can't be asked to search but have a look yourself in case someone has a more reasoned explanation.

Re: strange air con question - not the usual
thank you for the quick reply.
i looked into aircon issues and just seemed to turn up the usual leakage or no working problem.
i'll look into it again. sorry for wasting your time.

I don't think you'll find the exact answer on here but it's just one of those quirks in the software I think.
I'm sure mine wouldn't always self-engage the a/c only sometimes and I can't say it was much to do with temperatures either

Mine always re-engaged the AC,
I only know this because i was on my Hyper-miling mission that involved turning the AC of everytime i drove any distance and it was always back on next time i started the car, of course this was before i knew there wasnt any gas left in there anyway so the compressor was never going to kick in and steal my power and so lower my MPGs.
