New project for me...
this lunch (weather permitting) i'll be visiting my local scrap yard to aquire some interior lights of varying sizes off various cars so i can add them into my d9 estate.
if i can get lights with a smaller depth as possible, i will be inserting two into the roof lining to light up the boot from above, and one in either footwell down on the centre console.
wish me luck!

Doesn't the 406 have footwell lighting? I can't remember
It's a nice touch though footwell lighting, it's probably the only feature you got free of charge in my car (which is slightly lacking in toys).

Is this a useful mod? I mean, when I get in I know there's nothing on the floor to tread on so I just stick me feet in

It's a nice little thing for the ladies actually as they have a charming habit of distributing lots of small things around the footwell from their bag/holding device in which there are many things essential for her needs
For the driver it illuminates the pedals, in case you forget which one's which

Re: New project for me...
its a silly little mod but as i'll have the kit out to do the boot, i may as well do them together.

Good luck Lurch!
I agree with Welly, either the wife or kids love to fill the footwells with their clutter

Front has an inverter, 4x plug sockets, phone charger, usb adaptors, usb extensions, etc
Rear has 5l water bottle, rolls of Bounty, and empty Diet Coke bottles and fag packets

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: New project for me...
footwell lighting is a project i intend to do some time, im getting hold of the old school peugeot/citroen courtesy lights they are great for the purpose of footwell lights and it keeps the inside of the car all full of genuine psa parts, i have already got the courtesy lights from an ax and a 205, the big issue is where are you going to get the power from to turn on the footwell lights and how are you going to mount them?
Re: New project for me...
I pinched the boot lights off a few pugs in the tat yard. For the footwells I will mount them in the panel where the footwells vents are, and I'll power them from the front door card lights by tapping into those wires and extending them to the new locations. That way, the new lights will dim like the door card lights do too.

On mine, only the overhead lights fade in & out. The 'puddle' lights go on & off instantly with door operation.

Re: New project for me...
ahy thats the thing the door card lights just turn on and off, the ceiling light would be the best to get the power from, but then how do you get the power from them lights without having to pull all that trim off. Anyhow no2lurch give plenty of pictures of the work and we will be able to see how its done

Re: New project for me...
It was easy to run the mic cable for my phone up inside the A pillar trim & under the edge of the roof lining to the coutersy / map reading lights console, so I guess the reverse will get you most of the way back down.....
(I'd bear in mind Steve's caution regarding the capacity of the dimmer cct though).
