Re: Citreon Xantia?
Nahh haven't got a hope in hell. I'd take a MK1 Mondeo LX 1.8TD over a 3.0 V6 Exec Coupe. After all the trouble I've had with mine the only 406 I would touch now would be my Uncle Steves simply cause he's had it from new and I know it's mechanically perfect. And if I was to buy another 406 it would be another 1.9TD or a Petrol. But for now I'l see how the Focus is and if I don't like it I'l go german

I know what you're saying, if you get another 406 and it's also a dog people will think you need your head examining

That has absolutely not been my experience of Fords but, as they say, better the devil you know.My parents have had pleanty of fords and have always been uber reliable.

Re: Citreon Xantia?
On a Focus petrol make sure the screenwashers are sealed up so they don't leak water through them onto the plugs....a very common source of misfires, done loads, also the core plugs on top of the head between the plugs corrode and allow the coolant to bubble up into the plug holes.
On a Focus diesel, sooner or later the alternator will fail, I've changed loads of them, sometimes 3 or 4 on the same car....they are a menace

Sorted the washers. Volvo's come with lovely mist washers which cover the whole windscree. Tiny bit of silicone sealent and fitted them as replacementsjasper5 wrote:On a Focus petrol make sure the screenwashers are sealed up so they don't leak water through them onto the plugs....a very common source of misfires, done loads, also the core plugs on top of the head between the plugs corrode and allow the coolant to bubble up into the plug holes.

I'm sure it was some form of service vehicle as there is lots of holes in the dashboard etc. Just dosen't have much mileage on it?steve_earwig wrote:Then why the calibrated speedo?Bailes1992 wrote:My 406 has 130k on it, was on 103k when I bought itFSH upto 80k and timing belt changed 20, 40 and 60k.

People think I need my head examining for buying my 406 in the first place

I suppose people have different experiences with different cars. All the Vauxhalls my parents have had have been bollocks, yet some people rave about them and hate fords etc

Although, I had an XUD that was a lemon. Swapped it for my HDi, which I find is an excellent car.
