A Safe 12v Supply

After nearly distroying my car with the footwell lights, and whatever electrical crap ive added in i want to get it all going safely again, but i want a good 12v supply into the interior of my car, is there such a wire inside already free from the bsi and ecu which can have whatever i want on it without blowing or frying any expensive chips. My brightest idea is to get a wire from the +ve of the battery and get it into the car somehow, but where is the nearest hole from the battery so i can run some oven wire in , and then i can earth anything else to the chasis for the -ve. Would this strategy work without causing damage, i know it might run the battery down if things are left on while the engine off, but apart from that is it safe enough

use the 12v supply from the cig lighter mate just make sure u earth it but

just make sure u put in a seperate fuse (inline fuse) for ur footlights

im looking to run the boot leds, the first aid box light and these footwell lights would the cig lighter run all that, of course they arent all going to be on at the same time but is an inline fuse simply all it needs, is there no way of getting a wire from the battery inside the car

yes theres a way of gettin the wire through has i had to get the tubing for my boost guage through but ur only use the power feed from the cig lighter just make sure the inline fuses r good as these will stop any harm to the car

how can i get the wire in then, and whats the best way of getting power from the battery

open the bonet and look at where the cam belt is if u look on the bulk head ull see a gromit push a long screwdriver in the side of this and then start to push the wire through
if you want direct power from the battery then crimp a ring terminal onto the wire and use a nut for the bolt that sticks out of the positive terminal

and is drawing power from the battery direct a safe option will it avoid any issues with the bsi and ecu, will i need inline fuses and will it be ok to use the chasis as an earth

i dont see any problems with it as i am running a 10000watt sound system with a 5 farad powercap off my battery but yes use inline fuses to avoid damage to the wires if anything goes wrong

wow 10000 watts i cant even picture how much that is, whats the jbl system running at for comparison, can it break a glass if you set one in front of the speakers, anyhow ill run the wire in when i get the chance thanks for the help

There's a rubber bung in the passenger footwell just below the glovebox. You need to take off most of the trim in the footwell to peel back the carpet enough to see it.
In the engine bay its just out of sight below the brake servo. You may be able to fit a jumbo fuse in the engine bay fuse box to supply the power.

lol my amps are turned down i had the amps turned up and the bootlid was moving lol
as for the boost guage am not using the front tweeters so i can fed the pipe up and situated the boost guage on the grill

theres one on the other side if u follow the cable coming from the ecu box leading to the back of the engine ull see the one am talking about

I put my feed for my electric seats through that grommet in the passenger footwell
Carpet off bottom of glovebox, and the rear mount of it, is pushed into position so just pull it off, and then pull carpet back - although I found it easier to remove some of the covers by the door pillar

Just wish I'd fitted a distribution box inside the car now, so I would be able to tap off it for extra feeds as needed, although still not a problem to do I guess
