You can probably blag it - technically it's still an offence not to display said tax disc, but in practice it's highly unlikely they would prosecute provided you've paid the duty.

You could do worse than ring up & ask / check FAQ on t'website

My new tax disc was on the passengers seat, It blew out while I was out and about and the rest is self explanitory

that sounds like a reason i would have given the teacher why my homework wasnt completed, your tax is due up the same time as mine, you should have put it in the holder behind the current one and when it comes to the day the tax is due just swap their positions and add to a nice collection of old tax disks. As for your problem im sure dvla will help if you ring them, or you could wait beside the horse until it plops out the tax disk

Did you buy it at the post office or online? If online you could always ring the DVLA up and as why your tax disc hasn't arrived.... not that I'd condone such behaviour of course
