I would actually Doggy. I'd just stick the extra rear seats from mine in it & I'd have my ideal compromise car. Out of curiosity though, how is yours holding up with 180bhp? Is anything starting to show any signs of strain from the extra power?

There's a bit of vibration under harsh acceleration. I don't think anything's on the way out, but I'm treating it as a warning not to overdo it. My last set of front tyres only lasted 9k miles, (before the upgrade), so I'm trying to preserve these a bit more. There is a bit more torque-steer than standard, but I guess you've got to expect that.

Only done about 1500 miles so far, but my mpg's up from 42 to 45/46 8)

Vibration doesn't sound good - maybe too much power for the drivetrain components, but other than that it seems like there's no downside once the FAP's gone from the equation. Timing chain & belt is probably expensive when due though.

Looking through Ebay the other day I found this little gadget:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

Wonder if that would be any good for the models that won't take your remap file.

There IS a no-fap file for the earlier cars, just not a free 180 horse verison.

I wouldn't touch those gizmos wiv a barge pole - it can only 'fool' the ecu into thinking you've got a clean fap. What they don't tell you is it will still try to regen based on distance as well as diferential pressure

I only bid about £750 on it - that way if the prob wasn't FAP related & was something expensive, I could cannibalize what I wanted & get rid of the leftovers without losing too much.

My 110 LX is still doing the job at the mo & it's got fresh cambelt, water pump etc. Just feels a little underpowered at times & with a really bland interior.

Already spotted that one Doggy. Up to £1070 so far, but not as much of a bargain as this was:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

Know it's a coupe, but what a bargain at that price. Would've cost £100 to get it down here & I would've had a nice cheap one to experiment with. No MOT & prob needed cambelt etc too, but could've got all sorted & deFAPped for less than £1200 & might've got the wife interested in driving as she likes coupes. & even if she didn't, could've easily got my money back selling it on.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how much a no-FAP 2.2 HDi would go for? Never seen one advertised for sale yet, but reckon it might go for more than usual as I think a lot of people know about the problems with them now & maybe don't pay as much for them as they would if it was removed. Especially if it had the 180bhp map too.

When I spotted the estate last night it was at £450.
£1070 with 8 days to go is surprising. I suspect most people don't know what they're letting themselves in for so bid anyway....

The coop seems to good to be true, which usually means it is.

I was wondering about the resale value of de-FAPPED 2.2's and suspect they won't appeal to many people, as it's a bit like buying a modified 306 D-Turbo off a spotty teenager. 180 bhp remap will just add to that impression, probably.

I may find out in a year or so, in the meantime, I'll just carry on upsetting Audis, BMWs, Mondeos, (Jaguar & otherwise), etc.

My aim is to pick up another one with low mileage in a year or so, when I reckon you'll struggle to give them away, then de-FAP, remap, snigger for another 100k miles. :P

How many miles has yours got then? Sounds like a good plan to me too. Only problem is that there aren't many about now & low mileage are still scarce & expensive. Next year there'll be even less.

Do really fancy the idea of a 307 XSi or SE from about 2004 with the 136bhp 2.0 16v HDi as they're all FAPs too. Was reading a 307 forum the other day & a fellow on that was offering a DeFAP service - email him the engine map & he removes the FAP functions. The XSi half leather interior is lovely & they're not a bad drive. It's just a pity the 307 itself is renowned for being a dog.
