HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
Hi
I really need some advice, we bought a W reg 2.0 HDI (110) in February and we still haven't managed to get it on the road yet (much to my other halfs frustration he is borrowing his sister Matiz to get to work).
When we bought it managed the 100 miles home without any problems.
Got it home and started looking in greater detail and have had to spend quite a bit sorting the exhaust, auxiliary belt and tensioner, wishbone and several other bits and pieces. We thought that was it and took it to have the air con gassed, at which point it we were getting quite excited thinking we could at last actually use it!!
BUT when we got it home it developed a leak, from the metal pipe that comes out of the thermostat housing at the back of the engine and the service light came on.
Had the codes read and it said 1) Post/ Pre heating relay and 2) Air Mass Meter - took this apart and got the service light out, had the metal pipe replaced with thermostat housing, got it back and guess what the service light is on again. So took it to get codes read again and we have 2 the post'/pre heating one again and Pressure Regulator.
If you drive it the car seems fine until you slow down and then it cuts out and also the engine runs on for several seconds after the ignition has been turned off.
We have checked all electrical connections and are fast running out of ideas.
Please can anyone suggest what we can check next.
Yours very hopefully
Samantha

Re: HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
I would strongly recommend looking at/joining-and-asking-on this forum too>>> http://www.ilexa.co.uk/forum/index.php/ ... l#msg57933
That Pre/Post heating fault code is very common and as far as I can remember most diagnostic people in the know will recognise it and pretty much ignore it.
The running-on can be the pressure regulator and the link posted above describes the same sort of thing but have a snoot around at other related posts - it's a good source of information from people facing this kind of thing every day.
(welcome BTW)

Re: HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
Thanks I have requested registration for the other site - very helpful.
Looks as if it might be the pressure regulator sticking from reading similar posts.
Going to try adding oil to diesel and see what happens!!!
But I was wondering if the water leak may have caused this by getting into the electrics somewhere. The metal pipe was definately spraying out quite a bit of water.
We have cleaned most electrical connections but i bet we've missed one somewhere.
Will let you know how we get on
Thanks again
Samantha

Re: HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
Took it to the local Non Peugeot Peugeot Specialists who got it up and running by replacing Turbo Boost valve and tinkering. It was running nicely having driven it all week and other half took it to Stanstead to pick up sister in law absolutely no problems, Running on has stopped and she has plenty of power and the dreaded light is out. He recommended putting additive in fuel to clean injectors which we did prior to stanstead run, as he said the injectors were running slightly out of sink and he thought that the car had probably been run on Bio Diesel which he thinks may have contributed to our problems .
We WERE really happy till we got in it to go to a party tonight,we got 100 yards down the road and noticed a whistling noise on accleration, got another 100 yards and the dreaded light came on.
So back home we went and took my Laguna to the party instead!!
Anyhow, has anyone got any suggestion re the whistling, we are now getting we are really fed up with this car and my other half is getting really depressed over it , we just get one problem sorted and then another appears!!!!

Re: HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
The whistling sound could well be the turbo spooling up on acceleration
very common, mine does it nothing to worry about , dont know about the
light , hopefully someone will be along who does .

Re: HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
I get the impression it suddenly got louder, if the mechanic's been monkeying around with the turbo chances are it's something he's touched (but not necessarily broken himself). Or the rear engine mount's gone and taken out the flexy (although I can't remember if this brings up the engine management light).

Re: HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
Sounds like it may not be regulating the turbo pressure correctly. The ecu measures boost pressure via the MAP sensor, pictured below:

(This is from my car, but I think a 110 is similar). This is in a vulnerable position and is worth examining for leaks etc.
Pressure is controlled by operation of one of the 3 solenoid valves on the bulkhead - (which work the egr, high pressure regulator and turbo pressure valve - this is the one of interest). These are electrical valves, which switch the vacuum flow to the actuators themselves - I dont know what the turbo boost control actuator looks like, but it is turned on/off rapidly via the solenoid valve to regulate boost pressure.
You may simply have a loose / damaged vacuum pipe or a bad electrical connection. In this diagram:

1 is the egr valve, & the 2 x no. 6's are the solenoid valves, (the right hand one is the turbo boost control valve), 10 is the vacuum pipes.
Other things to look for are air leaks / damage to any of the pipes between turbo & engine, or anything blocking them. Is the air filter OK?
An exhaust leak after the turbo is unlikely to bring up the fault light.
Reading the fault(s), ideally with Peugeot's own diagnostic system, may save a lot of investigative time. Searching this forum for similar problems may well help too.

Re: HELP - NEWBIE IN DIRE NEED
Well the Hat seemed to fit very well, had a look under the bonnet to find the whistle and noticed a small chip out of the top of the plastic part of the EGR valve mounted on the back of the engine, with the engine running if you put your finger over the hole it sucks on it.
Took it to my man with the computer and error code P0191 Diesel Fuel Pressure came up.
He cleared the codes for me and so far the light has stayed out, but I'm suspecting that my little chip may be the culprit.
So looks like a new EGR valve (none at the scrappie today unfortunately) or maybe a piece of chewing gum!!!
