Re: The Ugliest Cars
BMW 5 series. OK, not the ugliest, but BMW really ought to have done better.
I always thought Mercs were fairly ugly, but I like the new E-class (from the outside).
I kind of agree with: "every Peugeot since the 406". They've all been fairly anonymous.

Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Re: The Ugliest Cars
here's an impressive late entry (although it's immediately disqualified for being a concept and not 'on the roads')... The Kia POP:

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: The Ugliest Cars
Guy I know has one of these

To give him his dues, he only bought it to take the 3.3l engine out of it and fit into a imprezza and turbo charge it
....and he'll do it, as some of his recent work includes fitting the imprezza engine in a beetle, a nissan zx engine into a imprezza to turn it into a drifter, and converting an imprezza to 2wd

Re: The Ugliest Cars
a few more entries by nissan now that i think of it
the murano
the sunny
tida
pixo
and the nissan 300zx which the thing above could be, i have a good bit out of a top gear article on it:
long gone are the days of hand built, low volume masterpieces , this is a mass production item, unceremoniously spat off a sterile production line somewhere very foreign and served up to you with the care and emotion of a dominos pizza. Its the TV dinner of the sports car world: cheap, unlovable, unimaginative, vacuum-packed.
I think thats quite a true review of most japanese cars of the 80s.
And i dont have something against nissan i think the pathfinder, patrol, x trail and old primera are all good

Re: The Ugliest Cars
There's a couple of those around here, they usually drive ridiculously slowly and I often wonder how much damage it'd do to my Pug if I just rammed them out of the way...

Re: The Ugliest Cars
Re: Jap cars, I've had 3 Jap cars; a Honda, a Mazda and a Mitsu-be-sh*t and I can say that all three were completely soulless but you can't really put your finger on the reason.
The interiors are wierd, having buttons with things like 'Power Window' written on them is tacky, in fact every button kinda tells you what is is rather than having a symbol - like the Japs treated the thing as an appliance or tool.
All three cars were unexpectedly expensive to keep too
No-one's offered up this beaut yet (which I strangely kinda liked when it came out).......
