It can be done, I've done it on mine. Uprated the speakers all round, but didn't know where the standard crossovers were so just used the existing wiring to connect to. Pretty sure they just pop up using a very small screwdriver IIRC.

Like I said, pretty sure I just reused the existing wiring. I just cut and crimped the old and new wires together.
Re: How do you remove tweeter grills in dash?
ill just unplug the tweeters and mount the new tweeters in the door mirror pods

the standard crossover is on the tweeter itself.HimBigChief wrote:It can be done, I've done it on mine. So does that mean that if you remove the factory tweeter you either have to fit your own crossover if fitting new tweeters or replace with full range speakers? Been contemplating this myself as since I changed my stereo the tweeters now sound a bit farty when a bassy song is playing.

Id think the standard crossover is just a capacitor. I don't think you'd get a full range speaker that small but I'm ready to be surprised. What you really need is a decent crossover with decent tweeters in the dash and midrange in the doors

A bit more googling later... This place says the replacements are 25mm, so I guess the real ones are something like that.

Re: How do you remove tweeter grills in dash?
you can easily get them out to have a look, im not sure about the size of them cos i think there good and dont see the need to change them unless of course you want mids and tweets , all i gave done is stuck a good set of co-axial 2 way speaker in the door and left the tweeter alone,waue1978 wrote:What ae the measurements of the standard tweeters then?
get a small screwdriver and carefully put into edge of tweeter and flip it out,
