Cheapo Printer Ink

Post by FarmerPug »

I will admit that i am a bit stingy when it comes to printer ink, i havent bought a single cartridge for it since i got it, but i do fill it up with them siringe things, but i ruined a good ben sherman shirt at it which sort of kills the whole cost saving element. But i did see some thingy where there is a box or tank of ink that sits beside the printer, sending ink into the printer cartridges. Ive tried typing this into google but it doesnt pick up on big long sentences, so what is the device called, if i had a name or something i could then look on ebay for one.

I stuck "printer ink reservoir" in Google and all I got was this lousy company in GB that makes them.

I'd never actually heard of this sort of thing before either. Oh look, they do one for my Canon for 40 quid, I wonder if they ship abroad...

Printer ink is special, if you get the wrong sort it will clog the nozzles and could damage the printer.

Incidentally, it's worth looking at getting a desktop laser printer. I bought an old HP LaserJet 1300N from eBay for about £40. Toner cartridges cost about £40, and last bloody ages, you're talking thousands and thousands of pages worth. Mine was black and white only, but colour laser printers are coming down in price.

i wouldnt mind a laser printer, the uncle has one and it dishes out tonnes of pages no bother and costs very little, i never print in colour no more, it was a novelty to begin with getting these lovely pictures glossy from the printer but with photobucket and digital photo frames, and so much other stuff why bother

:P Dont use no double negatives! :P

I have just bought a Laser Printer for home on the company :cheesy: as im doing plenty of worksheets and the like, and its working out cheaper to print plenty here than take a one sheet master and have it copied in the local photocopying place

The printer was only 269 Zloty (£62ish) and came with a half life toner cartridge in it, so far i have used over 2 reams of A4 so well over 1000 pages in the last week or so and its still going strong :) you would never get that from inkjet.

After Steve's link I have stuck it near the window though

My Samsung ML-3051N is a beaut, it's a laser printer and happily churns out hundreds and hundreds of sheets each month very quickly and the toners lasts at least 18 months.

I got my last cartridge from internet-Ink.co.uk and was pleased with the price (you then get 10% off everything after the first order).

Inkjets are ridiculously expensive if you don't use them regularly as the ink just dries up. If I ever buy a printer again it'll be laser or dye sub

Try to avoid colour lasers as if you are printing mostly black they still use an amount of colour toner on the print cycle. And refuse to print when any one colour runs out

colour laserjets are quite impressive when working, a previous employer had one and it was great once it got going, which was rarely because there was always some problem with ink not being recgonised, or it not being connected.

colour lasers cost a fortune, produce terrible looking output and tend to have tiny toner capacity as well as extortionate service kit prices. dye sub printers are much much much better in every respect for non-text
