Lower engine mount repair rather than replace
About a year ago I replaced a lower engine mount myself with a home made puller and the job was a bitch to do and I vowed never to do it again. Anyway after doing my exhaust on Tuesday I noticed it had gone again and wondered was there anyway to temporarily fix it i.e. liquid rubber sealant or something to reduce the wobble as I don’t want to replace it again and I don’t really want to take it to the garage either.

Chop up an exhaust mounting rubber and force the pieces into the gaps on either side of the rubber.

Did you try it?
I'm tempted to bodge mine because I have an old Alfa exhaust rubber in the toolbox and silicon sealant in the cupboard.
Even if I get until the new year out of it, get Xmas silly spending season over with. Bah humbug!

Yeh got 2 pieces of rubber pipe that i scrounged off somone at he bottom of the mount and put at the bottomof the mount and just squirted a little glue in bit crude i know but seems to have stopped the engine rocking about.

Re: Lower engine mount repair rather than replace
Well worth a try this weekend even just to get another couple months out of it. So long as the rain holds off. Cheers!
Re: Lower engine mount repair rather than replace
I'd suggest just whipping the mount arm out then trundling off to a friendly garage with a replacement bush and a fiver for use of their press
Oh, and change the other engine mounts first - probably failed causing extra load on the bottom one

Don't know any "friendly" garages in the Belfast area
I'll drop it in to a Pug specialist up the country in the new year after enduring the bloody xmas spending season is over.

I'm really surprised that no-one's come up with a "Super Uprated" mount for these because they're always failing
mjb - it's not that easy to 'whip out' on an HDi because the drive shaft goes through part of it and you gotta drain the gearbox, split the hub, etc etc.....

What, cure the fault for once and for all with one part rather than keep selling us lots of rubbish ones? Is there any oxygen on that planet you're living on?

Strangely enough, I was in a factors a few weeks ago when some taxi guy was trying to buy a lower mount, they brought out a book with a few selections in it, there was an option for a solid mounting bush.
