Hi,
My 1999 406HDI developed a stupid electrical fault where the headlights started to lighting up by themselves and I couldn't find a way of switching them off without disconnecting the battery.
So I disconnected the battery, locked the vehicle and closed the bonnet.
Now, I can't get in to my car to release the bonnet lock to reattach the battery. I have one key, and its the remote central locking that unlocks it. I can insert the key but not turn it.
Of course, the remote central locking doesn't work as the battery isn't attached..
Arrrrggghhhhhhh....
Any suggestions would be great. I might get a screwdriver and try and get in the passenger side..
locked out of car! Help!

No replies?
I guess you'll have broken in by now but you should sort the locks out (as should all owners, if they're not used they rust up and do the roundy-roundy thing or seize up entirely). Headlights thing is probably a duff relay (the t-shirt fell apart years ago)
Hope you didn't make too much mess.

Re: locked out of car! Help!
hello and welcome sorry its a bit late but you could try pulling off the side repeater and back feeding a 12v supply that way, it worked for me to get into my old BMW once when the battery went D.O.A on me,
oh but then you might have BSI issues, hmm maybe not, maybe, oh bugger it get in there with a bloody big brick and take a trip to the scrappies tomorrow.

Cheers guys
I have successfully managed to break in by forcing down one of the rear passenger windows and climbing through, with the help of a glamorous assistant of course:)
Still doesn't solve the permanent lights issue but at least I can get in my car. I know nothing about relays but I'm going to go through all of the fuses tonight.
