Rear topmounts.

Post by 406Iain »

Would anyone be able to come up with some symptoms of buggered rear top mounts?
Ive a feeling mine have gone. Not sure why but I think they have,my car has always had like a remote and faint sounding general noise about the rear end.It handles perfectly, the rear anti roll bar links where done not so long ago too and the rear tyres are not worn as it has passed 3 mots with them.
Only reason Im thinking rear topmounts is a few months back I got abit peed with it and stripped everything out of the back, trim, carpet, the lot.The passenger side topmount was making a metalic clicking noise when going over bumps, does this sound like the topmount or could it be the damper?
Thanks.

Hi there fellow Grimsby dweller :cheesy:
its ha hard one to diagnose not being able to listen to it, i had knocking from the rear which turned out to be the rear roll bar main bushes even though there didnt seem to be any play in them. but id be happy to have a listen and look sometime as your not far from me. :)

Do you use Hartwell Peugeot at all? I used them to buy my mudflaps and they ordered me some 407 ones despite having my number plates the dopes. Not used them since.

Ive ordered some new topmounts and will do them tomorrow (not fiddled with spanners much lately so should be fun) hopefully will sort the problem, but then again probably not!.
Never mind, its all fun and atleast its only making annoying noises and still running!
