Yummy!

I sort of want a station wagon for my mountain bike - I just wish we got the 2.2 HDI as an option in the 406 here, as opposed to the HDI 110, which to me isn't quick enough! :P

Spotted that one already. To be honest I wrote it off as it's only a GLX (with more body damage than mine although in the same colour) & the fact that the particle filter's goingto be freshly changed for the new owner will probably push the price up above what I'd want it for.

Ideally I want one that's due the change so it'll be cheap enough to budget for getting everything ripped out & a cambelt change on top.

Already spotted that one too. Reckon that'll end close to or over £2k as SEs usually do go for good money. Mind, at 84k though, I reckon it's very close to the dreaded FAP service.

Mine had the 'Antipollution Service' @72k for about £275 IIRC, (probably means they topped the Eolys up).
It did another 60k+ before the 'final solution'

@Steve no need for the percussion persuader - just take it to KwikFit, get 'em to replace one of the lacky bands holding the zorst up, but warn them not to damage the sensitive FAP element.

The first one is back on again:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

A couple of months later & this time no mention of the speedo showing a different mileage & still got the undiagnosed electrical faults.

The really worrying thing is that his ID is ELECTRICTEST & he can't fix this electrical fault. I suggested checking that footwell connection to him the last time he had it listed, but I'm guessing that it didn't do any good.

Can anybody think of anything going that would wipe out the temperature guage & rev counter & make the fuel guage a bit funny? The only other thing I can think of is that earth connection under the ashtray that I read about on here a while ago.

ELECTRICTEST implies one of these jokers that does PAT tests, which is right up there with, 'Well, I haven't starved so far' in terms of achievement, IMHO.

I think the rev counter info / temp info will come comms-wise from engine ecu & fuel gauge direct as this is a pre COM2000 car. It's always possible theres more than one fault.....

Did it have a mysterious 'jump' in mileage? - this suggests poor connections to the clocks.

It's obviously had a cambelt snap or similar, lots of bits changed but no sign of a recon, good / bad? I dunno. :?

Didn't it have any FAP issues previously?

BTW I now have an untested 180 bhp pre 2002 map file.
