And Another Newbie!!!

Post by r1150gsclark »

Hi Everyone,
Just bought a 99 D9 406 2.0 HDI 110 GLX to replace my trusted Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 TD Auto, because I travel to Belgium once or twice a month, and 50+mpg is better than 26mpg!! As before, I joined the Owners club to find the answers to those technical queries and niggles, ( engine cover shedding the oil filler cap!!), and to get the best out the car. Read a couple of the forums,( engine cover woe answererd!) and believe have found the best one. And hope to get to know some of you soon.
Now, just have to get the aircon sorted!! :x

Hi & Welcome 8)

A good 110 is hard to beat for economy.

Most common a/c failure is a leaky condenser - try to find out if there's any gas in it.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Thanks for the welcome, Dogslife.
You are right about the economy, just travelled to out here in Belgium and topped up the tank, got roughly 52 mpg! Well chuffed! And I wasn't hanging about, I had to stick to 60 to get around 26 mpg on my Paj. About the aircon, have checked around the condenser and no obvious leaks, will have an a/c service and pressure test on my return. I suggested to the person I bought it of it needed testing and recharged before I had it, seems like he only charged it!! Bless!!!
