Hello there,

a remap is a re-programming of the cars ECU, it costs around the 250-300 quid mark and is always successful as in the car has more power afterwards, the only thing to look out for is you need a car in reasonable condition first as the increase in power will result in weak components failing a little sooner than they would normally.

we have lots of members with remapped motors and they all swear by them, they have no problems with the MOTs and they all (well almost all; CJ :) ) enjoy the extra power and torque they have.

Dont forget to tell your insurers

a remapped 90 Hdi will give between 110-120 Bhp depending on the remap you choose, a good remapping service should offer you the choice of outright power or better economy, etc etc etc

Some 90bhp HDi's have a Siemens pump/injection set up which is very difficult to get re-mapped.

The Bosch pumps are easily tinkered with though

Very difficult? I thought it was impossible :? I guess if you open the bonnet and the pump has "Siemens" written on it then it's not the car for you.

I thought someone found a company that can do them now?

Would be expensive and questionable anyway....(I wouldn't want to be their guinea pig anyhow)

I think the owner wound up with one of those lie-to-your-ecu-about-the-fuel-rail-pressure, 'tuning boxes'.

The lucas can be remapped, I've heard of the 2.1 being taken to something like 180bhp. I even think Captain Jack's 2.1 was remapped, although I don't think that mad.

Didn't explain myself very well there...

I agree you can't, (apparently), remap a Semens system.

While you can remap a 2.1 with a Lucas Epic, as a general rule avoiding anything with a Lucas pump is a sound principle.
