So tell us - which came first?
I can tell which came first in the Land Rover - Mig Welder debate, thats right the rusty Disco

I'm guessing Bailes will tell you the Fucos doesn't need any welding, but it does seem a bit too much of a coincidence to me too Doggy

i had a defender before the first suzuki and rust was included in the sale but what confused me was when landrover and im speaking purely in the case of the defender here, when they made its body purely out of aluminum (or as the americans say aloominum) why is the main structural bits made of a rust prone steel, and why didnt they do anything about it why want the chasis dipped in zinc, or even waxoled before it left the factory, this one i had was a 1995 model and the rust was so bad it was an mot faulure and the top looked superb.

Reminds me of the song "Born on a Horse" by Biffy Clyro, off their excellent "Only Revolutions" album:
I pronounce it aluminium
'cause there's an I next to the U and M
now write it down slowly
and read it out fast
Totally off-topic I know, but hey.

There's antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium,
And hydrogen and oxygen and nitrogen and rhenium,
And nickel, neodymium, neptunium, germanium,
And iron, americium, ruthenium, uranium,
Europium, zirconium, lutetium, vanadium,
And lanthanum and osmium and astatine and radium,
And gold and protactinium and indium and gallium,
And iodine and thorium and thulium and thallium.

There's yttrium, ytterbium, actinium, rubidium,
And boron, gadolinium, niobium, iridium,
And strontium and silicon and silver and samarium,
And bismuth, bromine, lithium, beryllium, and barium.

There's holmium and helium and hafnium and erbium,
And phosphorus and francium and fluorine and terbium,
And manganese and mercury, molybdenum, magnesium,
Dysprosium and scandium and cerium and cesium.
And lead, praseodymium, and platinum, plutonium,
Palladium, promethium, potassium, polonium,
And tantalum, technetium, titanium, tellurium,
And cadmium and calcium and chromium and curium.

There's sulfur, californium, and fermium, berkelium,
And also mendelevium, einsteinium, nobelium,
And argon, krypton, neon, radon, xenon, zinc, and rhodium,
And chlorine, carbon, cobalt, copper, tungsten, tin, and sodium.

These are the only ones of which the news has come to Havard,
And there may be many others, but they haven't been discavard.
Anyway, back to the rusty Landy. I think the big problem is the electrolytic reaction between the aluminimunimuniumium and the steel chassis (especially the firewall I seem to recall) but back then manufacturers relied on rust to stop their cars lasting forever. Nowdays they're pretending to do better on that score, relying on expensive electronic failures to scrap the cars instead.

I have a controversial statement, the suzuki is better off road than the landy was its actually a fact given both jeeps each with road tyres the suzuki still can go anywhere wheras the landy gets stuck on a bit of damp grass
