Yeah pugs are definately farmers cars, the massive boot space is great for carting bales, bags of feed and small machinery :D

There are a couple of CXs about, but they are very very rare in NI. The collector of it and about 5 XMs is down Poyntzpass direction.

Thats a nice link-box you've got on the back on it. Was the 3-point linkage an extra on the Xantia?

The hydraulic suspension made it an ideal car for link-box and ploughing :)

Tow-ers used to love them for horse boxes / caravans / boats, because the suspension could be lowered, reverse the car, then raise it into the towbar!

But they lack the hydraulic suspension, just massive long travel springs.

And you should see the buggers off road

Always a fan of the C15 van, basically a Visa with a box on the rear, with the XUD.

Used to be sold in white and red as "van blanc" and "van rouge" :)

Shame they succumb to rust, although there are a couple of motorhome conversions that look well looked after.

Was the first car with the XUD the Talbot Horizon?

Mine were 2 ZXs (a non-turbo I had for 3 years, and a turbo I had for 3 months before quarter life crisis bought a GTV...)

when i got my licence insurance isnt cheap especially over here in NI so i had seen a nice wee red c15 in a builders yard for about 2 months as i took the bus (bad times bad times), and one week i had about £500 saved up and though ill go and buy this thing on friday, and i jumped off the bus on the friday and couldnt see the van there, asked the owner where it was and he said he scrapped it that morning, i asked was their anything wrong with it he said NOPE, he said it was in the way and would have give it away if someone asked for it, i was relativley calm and got a lift to the scrap yard, and there was the van in a square. A sad day.

What a waste.

Almost as bad as Golden Browns sCrappage scheme. People scrapping old interesting, well maintained cars for Korean boxes.

Triumph Mayflower scrapped, from the Alfa forum, loads of GTVs scapped, so the owners can buy Kia bloody S'eeds.

Hyundai and Kia eugh soulless plastic snotboxes. I dont regard them as a proper car even with a 7 year warranty, Does that mean your sentenced to 7 years of hell ie owning a kia if you accidentally buy one. Look at these old pugs they might give problems but there is enough character and charm with an old french car for you to be attached to it and fix it and put up with its troubles, if a kia gives trouble after the warranty its just melted down into a big blob of plastic to become your bic pen no character at all.

Unfortunately old french cars don't seem to be kept. When was the last time you saw a Citroen BX, a Peugeot 305 or a Renault 21?

They are still hanging about, just a hedge is growing out of them,
Seen a bx 2 years ago
A 305 a month ago was a van though, would love an estate.
A 21 Last week
But these arent perhaps the best examples, no ones going to go and scrap a good DS or CX or 504 coupe.

Anyhow old french bangers have character, you dont get that by offering a 7 year warranty.
