Indeed, although I sheared a bolt on the intercooler pipe so I must get that drilled out and replaced.

Easy job in all fairness. Nothing seemed to be siezed. Just a good dowsing behind the block with some WD40
But so much had to be removed. I undid the top engine mount and the engine was still sock solid :|

The best way to buy a car is to go to the auction with a small budjet and just buy the first car that comes into the ring at that money, me and the cousin did it last year and even though the car broke down on the way home it sold for a profit after it was fixed

The GF done that. She bought a 1.6 Automatic Clio for £750. Good news is when we realised it was a bag of shite someone drove into the side of it and now it's a write off. With a list price of about £1000 - £1500 she should be in the money

Youd think with a plate like that it wouldnt be lucky but despite it breaking down in the arse hole of nowhere just after leaving the auction and my phone being flat it didnt take much to fix up and sold it for double its price, 2 hours after putting it on gumtree it was away, the buyer had taken it and all.

They love their Toyota Carinas out the countryside here! :)

Fella from work moved to Belfast with his Carina only for it to get broken into by some frankie (as in townie / "waa waa") scum.

1st car I bought was a Clio, dirt cheap but the fella turned out to be someone my uncle knew and had money troubles so needed rid of it for cash asap. It got wrote off when a BMW didn't see it (are Clios invisible?) and I made nearly double the money from the insurance payout. Lots of Clios here too, they were the top selling car in NI for many many years!

2nd car I bought was a Ford Orion off some dodgy Arthur Daley type in Kirkcaldy. It never ran right, even on the drive back to where I was living at the time. 6 months later it was back in Kirkcaldy - Henry Gray scrapyard!

3rd car was my first French diesel - Citroen ZX XUD. Reliable, but slow. Had it for 3 years, never let me down. Just had to change glow plugs and alternator, along with regular servicing.

4th car was a Xantia - comfortable big motor, again never let me down either. Same 1.8 engine as the 406.

While I had the Xantia I was also given a ZX XUDT estate. Ran the both of them for a while, but couldn't justify 2 Citroens parked up at the door, so sold both and bought:

6th car, an Alfa Romeo GTV. This looked fantastic, had a wonderful revving engine that made a fantastic sound. Unfortunately the suspension bushses were prone to regular failure and the exhaust kept falling apart too.

7th car, 406 HDi, which led me here :)

Bought for £300, took it to a mechanic and had a new water pump fitted for £40, 2 front pads and disks £30, 2 front tyres off another carina £15. Valeted for £15. Sold for £600 and still had plenty of tax and mot, why go down the route of rentals. And although ive declared my hatred of this car in the past i loved this owl yoke mainly because it was a petrol and not a diseasel which in the carina made a difference nice metalic rasp from the exhaust. Firstly instead of being angry at it for breaking down me and the cousin were in fits of laugter about it. It was a great car drove about all christmas skidding at every corner since it had no abs and the roads had no grit. Good steering feedback and a nice gearchange also. but it was ugly.
Think clios ie the mk2 (dungball) to an extent invisible they have plastic wings to deflect radar

Managed to get otu the sheard bolts today. Easy enough job, my car has these drill bits with a reverse thread. You drill a small hole in the bolt, this reverse thread goes into bolt and when it tightens it unscrews the stud :D Great bit of kit.

Sotry of the day... last week a mate was in hospital and I arranged to go up and visit him. So I cleaned my car and made my way up there. Anyway while I was there another so called 'mate' turned up. We all decided to go to Asda in my car, this so called 'mate' said he wanted a fag and leant up against my rear 1/4 while we went into Asda. About 5 mins later he wandered into Asda. Anyway cut a long story short when I got home someone had gouged LOL into my rear quarter badly and even got the L's the wrong way round. Now this 'mate' is a right f*cking pikey in all honesty. He stole two tyres from a local tyre place which were sat outside ths storage shed and sold them? And I am 99% sure it was him who did it, I mean, why would anyone else write LOL in my rear quarter? And my car aint even been anywhere fishy bar the hospital, asda and down the bottom of my drive.
He also owes the guy who was in hospital £300. He posted in his FB status saying he had £430 pay so I reminded him he owes most of that to Richard and he went ape sh*t on me and called me a %$&? for reminding him? So I told him I knew he wrote LOL in my car to which he told me "I wouldn't do that on you shed, it would make it look better" :frown:
So I reminded him of how pikey his car was. Now he has a 'custom' exhaust system which he did himself (he dosen't know how to weld tidy), he has 4 spotlights which he drives around everywhere with them on, not only that he dosen't havbe a switch for them! Just two wires hanging out the dash which he twists together? Why are some people allowed cars
