I dunno, sure it's super-clean but the camera can hide things. I've been to see a few 'minters' ............. :|

To be fair it does look a good'un and one of the last 04's too :) just-under £4K is probably a decent enough price but at nearly 7 years old soon you can bet it'll only be worth £2K in the blink of an eye.

I'd say 4k was steep and as welly says, the price will drop like a stone in no time.

Bear in mind some poor sod probably got about £2 - £2.5k trading it in.

In 2006 I paid £3,395.00 for my nearly-7 year old exec with 96K miles and, sure enough, it dropped quicker that Puggy's underpants at a swingers convention :|

What is it with £3k cars? they're worth £3K one minute and nothing the next :? I suppose we think £3K is ok and not a huge risk but we're buying a car that's approaching the end of its useful life?

Depends on your expectations - 2 years ago, I paid £3,250 for my then 6 yr old exec with 103,000 miles, planning to run it into the ground in 4-5 years, 90-110,000 miles. I think that's a viable combination of a good drive & value for money.

I did a Highest Price First search on there & saw an 03 Rapier with 75k & 53 S with 130k at the same price that make an immaculate 55k o4 plate look like good value.

Plus a local trader had a 53 plate SE petrol for £3995 sat on his forecourt for a couple of months. Think it's sold now though.

Actually, the main thing that persuaded me to get a 406 at the time was that you could get a 2-3 year newer car when comparing to a VW/Audi or other stuff at the time.

For that money I would want an HDi coupe in red, cream leather (if an option?), all the options, autobox and <40k miles.

I paid £2500 for my 88k exec and although its got a few new parts like new brakes, exhaust and indicator stalks i doubt i could even get £2000 for it now, its a 2002 hdi 110 with 98k on the clock. But i dont really care its here to stay, and i love the way french cars plummet in vaule like this, my car would have been at least £20k when new, im keeping my eye on the c6 values are falling nicely you can get an 08 with less than 20k miles for £14k, its going to be the next car.

They were £14k a couple of years ago with slightly higher mileage, but when they are near XM money I am tempted myself 8)
