Ebay
Just thinking there, as much as ebay gets the odd bit of getting called fleebay etc, its just about the handiest place to get parts, and ive never had any problems with it, has anyone never used ebay yet, and any problems like the door for a skoda favorit arriving when your expecting some part for the 406?

Re: Ebay
Nearly everything (not mechanically integral) I buy for the car comes from ebay. Those alloys were the latest acquisition, never had any bother with anything. If its a reputable seller its not a risk these days

Re: Ebay
I've just bought the Koni 406 shocks that were on eBay the other week. Paid £19.99 plus postage for them, so about £30, and had a quick look online and the front shocks retail at £170 a piece, and the backs ain't much cheaper! So really, £600 quids worth of shocks for £30, bargain! Got a brand new bath the other week aswell, another bargain.
I keep an eye on eBay all the time as you can get some right bargains on there. I just missed out on a set of coupe Brembo's for just over £80 last week too.

Re: Ebay
I dont think i could keep my car on ebay or do much without it, it used to be a case of going to shops dotted all over the place where you would be told it doesnt exhist or is out of stock and that would be a long drive, now on ebay you can buy things like a tool that lets you take apart the segments for a bicycle, i went to halfords for such a device and they hadnt a clue, or a needle for my old record player i dont even know where to start looking for one of them, ebay really is great.

Re: Ebay
Gotta agree lads, I love ebay and the internet in general. Just last week my bro-in-law's telly packed up. 32" Toshiba LCD. A quick google of the model number revealed a common fault , a bit of digging revealed the specific component and instructions on how to change it. Ebay found me that component in China for less than £8, £400 telly saved, job's a good 'un

Re: Ebay
Ebay is handy for obscure parts, whether it is for a car (got plenty of Alfa Romeo gear off ebay, took less time than ordering it in from Italy at the dealers!), or computer bits (built a whole brand new AMD Phenom system for around £200, also handy for laptop parts)
Also interesting for retro gear, old games for the N64 and Dreamcast, and keeping an eye out for a nice mac classic at a good price and a commodore web.it...

Re: Ebay
Is this the thread where I proudly announce I don't have an ebay account?
Me? I aint never bought nuffink off ebay.
Will it stay that way?
I doubt it, although you can bet I get stung the first time I give it a go
My friend bought a £15,000.00 BMW X5 off ebay and it was a cracker

Re: Ebay
Just be careful, check the seller's score and avoid anything with a generic pic or no pic at all like the plague.

Re: Ebay
On Gumtree a while back there was a rake of ads for the likes of X5s and XC90s - The photos were obviously of US market vehicles with side markers and square number plate holders. And the scenery in the background didn't quite match up to the map of certain parts of Belfast406executiveHDI wrote:Gineric pics are ok for things like sd cars or usb sticks, you cant expect them big sellers to get every single one out and take a pic of it

the problem over here is the owners ruining the cars with terrible modifications. And what school taught them to spell eg screwd.

Re: Ebay
id love to ring them up and say 'hi i see your selling a citroen on gumtree, wait for a reply, LEARN TO TYPE PROPERLY' then hang up.
Has that Xantia owner been deprived of the gift of functioning eyes, and the ability to spell hydraulics, or understand that its actually hydropneumatic.
My grampa had a ZX Turbo D (not d turbo as these clowns call it, another reason for them to learn to read and write), quite a waste really as a non turbo would have done rightly but between me, my da, and my uncles the turbo got occasionally used. The aunt also had a ZX for 10 years again a turbo d Avantage a nice trim level and just as quick.
But gumtree is good enough, clogged with crap cars, but occasionally you do come across something with no r plates on it (they really ruin the sale with that one), and its a good buy.
