I'd think it would be cheaper to pick up one from the breaker's than get the wheel repaired. Probably safer too (do the repairers there have x-ray machines to check for cracks?)

I'm going to a quite well known place down on the industrial estate. They have a good rep around here. If not a new alloy is £125 :(

Who said anything about new? I get the point though, how do you know what happened to one from the breaker's (unless you pull it off the car yourself). If you do get it repaired make sure it always lives on the back of your car.

I'm sure it will be fine once it's repaired. If it wasen't safe I'm sure they wouldn't be able to do it in the first place!
Scrappys want silly prices for alloys too and will only let you buy them in 4s! I might just say f*ck it and buy new, but it's 2 weeks wages :(
Surley having a wheel go on the fron't of the car is safer than the back? Afterall if one went at the front, chances are you won't spin out. On the back you may do!

My missus car looks like that on the inside, they really don't give a sh*t about their cars do they :?

I'm sure you'll keep it clean now though, and to be fair that's a decent car for a young whipper snapper like you 8)

That's ok, it costs that here. I'd still worry about sticking it on the front but I've had a search and can't find anything on a straightened wheel failing.

Hold on a mo, why's this in the "Pug pictures" forum :?

I noticed a few weeks ago one of the wheel bolts looked like it had been replaced by a normal bolt? Then after a bit of investigation I found out the ford put an aluminium cap over the standard bolts to make them look better. Few pictures to explain...

And as you can imagine, the wheel looks much nicer with a matching set of bolts now :D Although Ford wanted £7.99 for the bolt :(

They're NUTS! :frown:

I've had them on other cars but made of plastic (the Scirocco had them, I made a tool for removing them), are you meant to take them off before undoing the nut?

Nope! I physically cann't remove the cover on the nut, and without them the standard wheel brade just slipps off and rounds the nut down. The wheel nuts are 19mm, I used a hammer and an 18mm socket to get it off

The old ones were probably taken off with the wrong size socket on an impact wrench (sweep it under the car quick...)

It's ok... its not the nuts that matter ;)
But as you know... as bearings get old and used they stop working as well as they once did ;)

Are driveshafts supposed to have any movement in them? Trying to investigate a front end knock, jacked the car up, couldn't find any knoocking or looseness in the wishbones but then again, I'm a puff and not sure how hard you need to shake them, grabbed the drop links and theres no movement in them either. But when I grabbed both driveshafts theres about 1-2ml in and out movement in both of them? Is this normal?
